How to Set Up Promotions
Sellers can offer buyers a discount either on merchandise or shipping. The discount can be either a flat rate or a percentage of the merchandise subtotal or shipping costs. ChannelAdvisor’s Promotions Manager lets sellers convert a potential buyer into a motivated buyer. This is another feature that ChannelAdvisor offers to enable online sellers to have a SALE. Additionally, the Promotions Manager tracks the effectiveness of the promotions so sellers can tailor the promotions to the fullest sales potential. Accessing the Promotions Manager 1. From the Merchant Console, select Channel Management Module. 2. If the customer has more than one account, from the Account Console in the top right corner select the account. 3. Select Tools > Promotions Manager. The Promotions Manager page displays options to Create a New Promotion or to View All Existing Promotions. The page also displays Promotion Stats. Creating a Promotion You can create a promotion that provides a discount on shipping cost or order subtotal. You can indicate when the promotion applies, for example, based on dates, order pricing, specific inventory items, or orders that contain a minimum number of items. To create a promotion 1. From the Promotions Manager page, click Create a New Promotion. The page includes four sections. Complete all sections. 2. Basic Information section · The promotion is Enabled by default. If you do not want the promotion to be enabled, choose “No” and you can enable it later when you are ready to start the promotion. · Enter the Promotion Name, this will display to the buyer during checkout when a promotion is applied to the order. · Enter the Promotion Code. Use wording that identifies the promotion such as "5Off" for $5 off shipping cost. · Choose to require the buyer to enter this code at checkout or apply the promotion automatically. o Yes means the buyer will need to apply the code to the qualifying order during checkout to receive the discount. o No means the promotion will automatically apply to qualifying orders at checkout requiring no action from the buyer. · Complete the free-text Seller Description field with details on the promotion, this field is seen only by the seller. - Buyer Help Text section: Enter text that will display to buyers in the Checkout when a promotion code is entered. A box appears for each language that the store supports.

· Indicate whether the promotion is discount on shipping cost or discount on order subtotal. · Click either the Fixed Discount Value or Percentage Off. - Buyer Purchase Conditions section. Click one of the following:
· Order Level: Choose whether this promotion applies to all orders, orders whose subtotal is at least $ , or orders that contain at least X items. · Timing: Indicate a beginning and ending date. · Marketplaces: Indicate either all purchases qualify for this promotion or only if there are purchases from selected venues on the invoice. If you want to specify the venues, mark the venues that are appropriate for this promotion. o If there is atleast one item from a selected venue on the invoice, the promotional discount will be applied to the entire invoice. o For example, if a promotion is set up to apply to purchases from the ChannelAdvisor Store and there are items on the invoice from the ChannelAdvisor Store and eBay, then the promotion will apply to the entire invoice. · Inventory: Click the inventory items that must be on the order in order for the promotion to be valid. If you chose specific inventory classifications, a new page appears where you will need to choose the inventory classifications for the promotion. - Click Save and Exit.
Viewing Promotion Statistics This Promotion Stats display is a quick review of the promotions used in the last 30 Days or last 7 Days. The statistics for promotions are updated every 24 hours automatically. They can be retrieved on demand by clicking the Refresh Now link. If a promotion has not been used in the last 30 days it will not appear in the statistics. The columns in the report indicate the number of uses. A use is defined as the number of times a promotion is successfully applied to a checkout. If the checkout is not completed the promotion will not count as a use. To view promotion statistics 1.
