We're trying to automate the inventory update process on eBay. Previously we would receive a shipment, update the SKUs with the added available quantity, and then go through and revise existing listings.
To automate this we added a schedule on listings that maintains 1 GTC listing with all inventory 7 days a week. We also turned on automatic inventory synchronization with open ebay listings.
The problem is the listings we added the shedule to have not updated any of the inventory with current available. I'm stuck on getting this to work automatically.
If you have enabled the Automatic Revise Listings functionality, then those changes to the quantity should automatically apply to your open listings and adjust the quantity as appropriate for your schedule settings. This assumes that eBay is allowing the open listing to be revised, so check the open listing record to see if there might have been a revise submitted that was rejected by eBay. If you are not seeing a revise attempt or the revise attempt that is shown is successful, please open a case with the support team and include a few example SKUs so we can go investigate and figure out why those are not updating the quantity information.
Some listings have an error for changing the title / subtitle, however, I haven't put a change to the title. Will this affect changing the quantity automatically?
Also, I may be confused on the inventory part. If I have a listing with 50 quantity and I update it to 100 available for 150 total, does it automatically change the listing to 150 on eBay?
Yes, and Yes. If eBay is rejecting the revise request, then nothing about the item can be updated including the quantity. Either change the title in your CA data back to match the title on eBay or end the open eBay listing so a new one can be submitted based on your current product information.
The quantity on the open listing will be recalculated based on your inventory availability information, schedule settings, and the currently open quantity to figure out if any updates should be applied to the quantity amount in the currently open listing.
If I only want inventory updated should I leave the schedules on and turn off automatic sync?
That is not an option. The Revise Listings functionality updates all of the information in the open listing based on the data that you have in your product SKU data to make sure that it stays updated and synchronized with your product information. That includes the inventory quantity as well as the description, shipping settings, return policy, and anything else that you may have configured relevant to an open listing.
Louis,
I've found that if a listing has a qeustion or if it has sold recently the auto sync will not work.

Well I suppose doing the manual revise for inventory was my only option. Hopefully there is some improvements made on eBay or CA's side for making this a smoother process for GTC listings with history.
The whole point to the new Revise Listings functionality is to make it automatic and minimize any manual work that you need to do to keep your listings updated and refreshed with both new information and available quantity. eBay has few restrictions on the fields you can edit, allowing most everything to be updated most of the time. We have a lot of people using that as a set-it-and-forget-it model such that their updated product data automatically applies to their open listings, just like they have on other marketplaces.
