Anyone know if it possible to configure Amazon and / or eBay to exclude certain London postcodes during the Olympics? This is because DHL want to charge about £10 surcharge per parcel that goes inside central/east London.

I have a list of restricted postcodes and wondered if it were possible using a business rule or something to exclude certain postcodes for certain items.

Or any other suggestions for handling this situation?

Cheers,

Trent

No, neither of them have anything like that to block certain domestic users or charge them extra.  Since you have a list, I think the best option would be to review the sales when they come in, and then contact the users that fall within those postal codes to see if they want to pay a surcharge, cancel their transaction, or wait until after the events are over and postage rates return to normal.  It's not the best option, but unless you want to eat those delivery charges for those buyers it's probably your only decent solution.

I though I'd heard that the fee was £20 or £25 per package.  Regardless, it makes shipping transactions a lot more complicated.  It's even worse for the people sending there from outside the UK if they aren't aware of it and send their package anyway.  I'm guessing that it will end up getting returned for insufficient postage, which is just going to be extra complicated on everyone involved.
