How To

Providing Quantity for Multiple Distribution Centers Accounts

A Distribution Center (DC) is a facility or a storage location from which items are shipped for order fulfillment. For a retailer, their DC may be a Seller-Managed Distribution Center such as their own warehouse, drop shipper, or even retail store or it may be an Externally-Managed Distribution Center. At this time, ChannelAdvisor supports Multi Channel FBA Support for Amazon.

Prerequisites

You should be familiar with the following topics before continuing:

Understanding Quantity By Distribution Center

When we list your products on marketplaces, we automatically sum your products' quantities across all Distribution Centers assigned to that marketplace. The only exception is if you use Fulfillment by Amazon . When we list products on Amazon, we must specify at listing time if the order is FBA or seller-fulfilled. If you are using the Auto-Flip  feature ( Marketplace > Amazon > Settings ), we will always list items as FBA when they have FBA quantity.

If you use buffers, these are factored after we sum your available quantity across all assigned DCs.

Providing Quantity By Distribution Center

After your account is enabled for Multiple Distribution Centers, you should provide this information to ChannelAdvisor:

  • Quantity: Leave Blank
  • Quantity Update Type (Required): Provide normally. Learn more about Quantity Update Type .
  • DC Code: Leave Blank
  • DC Quantity (Required): Provide quantity for one or more DCs using a comma separated list. For example: NYC=1, Atlanta=3. Where NYC corresponds to the code for your DC that you specified on the Distribution Centers page under Inventory Settings.
  • DC Quantity Update Type (Optional): We recommend providing partial dc list as a value in that column. The other option is to provide complete dc list. If the column is not present or empty, the system will treat quantity update type as complete dc list. This value, complete dc list, will zero out your quantity for all dcs that you do not provide quantity for. So you should only use it to wipe out inventory at other distribution centers.
Inventory exports will include all dc quantities. If you want to modify an export file for import, you should leave the quantity values for all dcs. Thus, quantities for the dcs won't be changed. Otherwise, the system will treat the import as complete dc list and remove quantities from dcs removed from the file. Alternatively, you may remove dcs from the exported file, and add the DC Quantity Update Type column with a value of partial dc list for the modified items.
If your account is not enabled for Multiple Distribution Centers, we will return an error if you provide the column DC Quantity Update Type.

How Quantity Update Type Works With Multiple Distribution Centers

The Quantity Update Type is primarily used to tell ChannelAdvisor if we should ignore Open and Pending Orders when we set your Available Quantity from the quantity you provide in your data feed. With Multiple Distribution Centers, you provide your quantity for each DC. All of your Open and Pending Orders are also associated with individual Distribution Centers. As a result, we are able to determine your Available Quantity at each DC individually according to your quantity provided, your open and pending listings, and your Quantity Update Type provided. When we list products, we sum Available Quantity across all DCs assigned to that marketplace/site.

Viewing Quantity

On the All Products Beta page, you may add new columns to your view where you can view your available quantity rolled up by DC Type (Warehouse, Drop Ship, or Retail Store). On the Edit Item page, you may view your quantity at each DC for a product.
