How To

Migrating Bundles

If you are currently relying on manual processes and workarounds (not using ChannelAdvisor Bundles) to list bundles on eBay or Amazon, follow these steps to transition your listings and utilize our platform’s functionality.

These steps only apply if you already have items listed on the marketplaces that you sell as bundles but are really standard/stand-alone products in ChannelAdvisor’s platform.

Please note: If you are currently selling bundles on Amazon (associated items that you’ve shrink wrapped and sent to FBA), we recommend that you not change this process by transitioning these products to ChannelAdvisor Bundles. To maintain your FBA listing for these products they must be packaged together as one SKU at Amazon.

Prerequisites

  • You already have items listed on the marketplaces that you sell as bundles but are really standard/stand-alone products in ChannelAdvisor’s platform. If you are looking to create bundles and have not previously listed any before, see the article on  ChannelAdvisor Bundles
  • You should be familiar with ChannelAdvisor inventory, especially Exporting Inventory .

Tasks Related to Migrating Bundles

First, complete a full export of all the items you are looking to replace with bundle items.

  • Export these products regardless of which marketplace(s) have listings.
  • This file can be used (via import) to update the new Bundle SKUs you create. See All Products Beta -> Export -> Custom Export.

Moving from Manual Bundles to ChannelAdvisor Bundles - eBay

If previously selling on eBay follow these steps:

  1. Export SKUs.
  2. Close the existing listings for the SKUs you plan to replace. See Withdrawing an Open Listing .
  3. If you plan to use the same SKU name for the new bundle SKU, then the existing SKU that was being listed as a bundle on the eBay listing needs to be either deleted or the SKU name/number needs to be changed.
  4. Create the new Bundle SKU via the Bundle Relationships upload file with all component SKUs making sure to use the SKU number for the recently closed listing. See Creating Bundles via Upload on the Bundles SSC page for further reference.
  5. Import your existing data for the new Bundle SKU using the exported data from the first step above.
  6. The new bundle SKU should be assigned to the same templates (Ad, posting) and schedules as the previous listing to resend the item back to eBay.

Considerations

  • Following this process ensures the item will effectively be recreated on eBay as a new product. Therefore, there will be no history associated with this new listing.
  • The old listing that was closed will not be able to be re-listed on eBay.
  • The item will be off of eBay for a period of time due to the listing being closed.

Moving from manual bundles to ChannelAdvisor Bundles - Amazon

If previously selling on Amazon follow these steps:

  1. Remove the existing item from your Amazon label. This will effectively withdraw the listing from Amazon. For instructions on removing labels, see Removing Labels from Inventory .
  2. If you plan to use the same SKU name for the new bundle SKU, then the existing SKU that was being listed as a bundle on the Amazon listing needs to be either deleted or the SKU name/number needs to be changed.
  3. If you want to ensure that the existing Bundle SKU listing is no longer available to buy on Amazon, wait until ChannelAdvisor submits the withdrawal request to Amazon. The product will fall out of the product status view and can be verified on Seller Central that it is no longer available to be purchased.
  4. Create the new Bundle SKU via the Bundle Relationships upload file with all related component SKUs making sure to use the SKU number for the recently closed listing. Reference the standard documentation for creating bundles SKUs.
  5. Import your existing data for the new Bundle SKU using the exported data from the first step above.
  6. Assign new Bundle SKU to your Amazon label.
  7. The item will be resubmitted to Amazon with the same data as before. Verify on Amazon that the item went live once it appears in the Product Status view.

Considerations

  • As with eBay, the item will be unavailable for purchase between the time when it is withdrawn and then resent to Amazon.
