Overview of an Upload Spreadsheet

Overview


ChannelAdvisor provides a suggested format for managing your inventory data. You can view full details and download a copy of the file referenced below on the Using the ChannelAdvisor Bulk Upload Spreadsheet page.

You will find that all fields on the header row (Row 1) of the spreadsheet are directly related to a field that already exists in the ChannelAdvisor software. For example, column A (Auction Title) is the spreadsheet equivalent of the Auction Title field for an inventory item record:

At the bottom of the spreadsheet, you will notice two tabs.

  • The UPLOAD DATA tab is where you will add your inventory and ads.
  • The INSTRUCTIONS tab is an explanation of the values that the software will allow in each cell of the worksheet

On the top right corner of each cell in the header row, there is a red triangle. Hovering over that triangle will give you an explanation of the values that are allowed in this cell. This information is the same that can be found on the INSTRUCTIONS tab at the bottom of the screen:

  • Row 1 (The Header row) is frozen. As you scroll through your inventory, you'll find this row stays put.

 

How to Add Inventory to the Spreadsheet


Not all of the columns on the spreadsheet are needed. You can remove any column headers that you will not be using. Please note that when uploading new inventory, Column B (Inventory Number) and column D (Quantity) are REQUIRED . For existing items, you can omit quantity if you're not making a change to that field.  So for example, if you only want to add an item using the spreadsheet, you only are required to include the following information:



Please be sure to save your file in Text (Tab-Delimited) format or .CSV before uploading it into the ChannelAdvisor application.
