How To

Amazon Product Matching (Multi Match) Errors Resolution

When listing on Amazon, you may encounter a Product Matching Error. This error occurs when Amazon feels that your product may already be included in their catalog but some key piece of information is different such that the match is not exact. Amazon wants to ensure that you are matching your product up with the correct product listing in their catalog to avoid buyer frustration, which will ultimately reflect negatively on you, if the buyer makes a purchase and is delivered a product that is different from what was displayed on the listing.

Amazon will flag this condition and present it back to you to determine if the product you are trying to list is the same as the product in the Amazon catalog. Sometimes Amazon may provide multiple product matching suggestions but most commonly, they will provide the one product they feel is the best match and will call out the product differences which are typically one or more of these: size, color, brand, manufacturer, manufacturer part number (MPN) and/or item package quantity.

When this error occurs, ChannelAdvisor will return a Product Matching Error in your Product Status > Errors view and provide you with a feature to allow you to view your product against the potential product matches that Amazon is suggesting.

With this feature you have the option to:

  1. Select a product from the Amazon list and update your product with the Amazon suggested attribute to ensure a match
  2. Search Amazon for an alternative, appropriate product match
  3. Dismiss the error

You may want to dismiss the error if none of the suggested products the product you are trying to sell. You may want to go back and edit your product details to provide Amazon with more product attributes to match against.

Using the Product Matching Errors Resolution View

This view will show you a list of your SKUs that have received the matching error. For each SKU you will be able to do the following:

  1. View and edit your SKU details:
    • Edit your SKU data to match the information on the detail page you are attempting to match to.
  2. Choose from a list of possible product detail pages to match to:
    • Select the ASIN link to view the product listing's detail page on Amazon.
    • Select the Use Suggested Values button to use the Amazon suggested attributes on your product during the next product feed.
      • When you select this option, ChannelAdvisor will (1) create the attribute on your product (e.g. AmazonCASuggestionBrand), (2) populate the attribute with the Amazon suggested value (e.g. navy blue), (3) remap your Amazon template to use this new attribute if it exists and if not, to use the existing mapping (e.g. use AmazonCASuggestionBrand if exists, if not, use Brand) (4) send the suggested value on your product in the next product feed.
      • Please note that ChannelAdvisor will not perform steps (3) and (4) the remapping of your template and sending of the data, if the field contains a business rule or lookup list. Product Matching Error

I keep getting a product matching error. There is an older version of the product that Amazon keeps trying to match to it but it's not right. I've changed numerous things but I keep getting the error for the product and it won't list it.
