How To

Bulk Actions for Inventory Uploads

Prerequisites

You should be familiar with the following topics before continuing:

Overview

There are several actions which a user can do in bulk within the ChannelAdvisor All Products or Ads views to manipulate your inventory and marketplace ad information. For example, you can delete products/ads, archive products/ads or block products/ads from listing in a marketplace. It is easy to use the ChannelAdvisor views to make these types of changes to a few, or even a few hundred items, however when trying to modify thousands of items at once it is often easier to submit a file to make these changes.

Once you have created the file, you can upload it via the user interface, or via FTP.

Please Note: The time it takes for ChannelAdvisor to process your file will depend on the number of rows that you submit in that file. For example, a file containing 10,000 items may take approximately 2 hours to complete processing. DO NOT submit your file multiple times if the items you submitted are not modified immediately .

Create an Upload File

Create a spreadsheet that contains the ID(s) on which you want to act in the first column (this can include a SKU or an Ad ID), and the bulk action command that you would like to perform in the second column. After submitting your upload file, the processing status will appear in the Upload Download Status view.

File Requirements

  • The file must be saved as either a comma separated (.csv), text tab delimited or text pipe delimited format (*.txt) , depending on the selection you have made on your inventory settings (the default is tab delimited).
  • A header row identifying the columns as "Identifier" and "Action" is required.

For the example below, SKU1 will be deleted from the account, Ad ID 1 will withdraw all open listings from the marketplace, and SKU2 will be placed on Block.

Identifier Action
SKU 1DELETESKU
AD ID 1WITHDRAWAD
SKU 2BLOCKSKU
etc....
