Using the Power Bidder

The Power Bidder allows you to manually adjust bids with Comparison Shopping Providers. Tracking IDs are used in order to identify which comparison shopping product advertisement you would like to adjust bids for.  Tracking IDs are the unique identifiers assigned by ChannelAdvisor to each product in each feed.  Tracking IDs have been referred to as Advertisement or Ad IDs in the past.  Tracking IDs are shown when viewing SKU or Product level details in  several Performance views  , the most common of which is a Performance Report.

Using the Power Bidder

  1. Navigate to Digital Marketing > Marketing Management > Product Performance.
  2. Select the Product Bids tab.
  3. Select the Power Bid link at the bottom of the grid.  
  4. Within the Power Bid text box you will enter a string that indicates one or more product advertisements and what each of their bids should be changed to.
  5. The structure for entering that information is the Tracking ID followed directly by ** and then directly by the bid you would like to assign to the product advertisement associated with the Tracking ID.  Thus, the format is: TRACKINGID**BIDAMOUNT.

    Example:   

    Tracking ID 
     Bid Amount 
     String to Enter in Power Bidder 
     1111125 $0.50 1111125**.5
     1111126 $0.00 1111126**0
     1111127 $0.42 1111127**.42
     1111128 $1.20 1111128**1.2
       
  6. Each bid string should be entered on its own line.  Using the sample data above, the strings would be entered into the Power Bidder like this:

    1111125**.5
    1111126**0
    1111127**.42
    1111128**1.2

  7.  Click Submit to save your changes and have the Power Bidder adjust your bids as indicated. 


New bids are updated when the next feed goes out and can take up to 48 hours to for the provider to reflect a change in bid.  Items that are bid down can be reviewed in the Bidding Activity Summary found under Digital Marketing > Marketing Management > Automated Bidding in the Power Bid Down column.

 

Removing Products via the Power Bidder

The Power Bidder allows you to manually adjust bids with Comparison Shopping Providers. You can use the Power Bidder to bid a product to $0, which will remove it from a feed. 

 

Exporting Performance Data to use with the Power Bidder

To export Performance Data to use with the Power Bidder you can do the following:

  1. Navigate to Digital Marketing > Dashboards > Performance.
  2. Open Filter options.
  3. Choose a Date Range of at least 30 days
  4. Set the By Channel option to Comparison Shopping Engine.
  5. Set the By Provider option to the provider that you wish to view.
  6. Set the Summarize Results By option to SKU.
  7. Choose Go to view the results.
  8. Choose the Export to Excel option.
  9. View and analyze the report in Excel to determine the products in the feed that you would like to change with the Power Bidder .You can sort the data by hits or clicks and remove SKUs that have minimal traffic (usually 50 hits or less). You can also sort by orders and remove any SKUs that have orders thus leaving ones that are incurring cost but not producing revenue.
  10. Copy the Tracking ID  values from the Excel document into the Power Bidder with ** and the adjusted bid.  You can use Excel to create these strings and then copy and paste them into the Power Bidder .
  11. Click Submit to save your changes to your bids.
