eBay Insights Types

eBay Insights give you a view into recommendations from eBay about ways to improve your listings and increase their attractiveness and appearance to buyers.  They also identify areas of improvement to the listing data that help eBay promote your listings both on eBay's own web site and across the Internet.

Item Specifics

Item Specifics give eBay a clear set of data points to describe your product. These fields are used by eBay to classify your products and provide a better searching experience for buyers. Without the values for item specifics, buyers that use the filtering options in the search results will not see your items, even if the term they are using is included in your title or description. These recommendations identify the item specifics fields that should be configured and may even recommend a specific value if eBay has been able to identify one based on information from your listing. The list of item specifics that eBay suggests for the listing will be in parenthesis at the end of the message. If there are any recommended values, those will be inside square brackets. Example: (Color [Green], Manufacturer, Number of Units)

Pictures

Pictures are a key aspect to the shopping experience. Providing large, clear, high quality pictures gives the buyer a detailed view of your product and allows them to compare aspects that are not covered in the description information. If your pictures are below the eBay standards or have other undesirable aspects which might be suitable to improve the buyer experience, messages will let you know that you should focus on improvements to the images in the listing or other updates you should consider. The number of images in the listing related to the message will be included in parenthesis at the end of the message.

Product identifiers allow eBay to associate your product with the eBay catalog items as well as increase exposure by promoting your listings on marketplaces across the Internet. Shopping engines like Google Shopping require a product identifier in order to submit new items. Additionally, eBay can use the product identifer on their own site when a buyer uses the eBay mobile application to scan a bar code or when a buyer uses one in the search query. If you have not provided a product identifier in a category where one is expected, eBay may request that you submit one with your listing in order to increase your exposure and ability for buyers to find your item.

eBay Top Rated Seller

In order for your items to qualify as eTRS, both the seller and the item must fit the eBay requirements including seller standing, overall feedback ratings, shipping standards and return policies. If one of these is missing from a listing then the exposure to buyers can be greatly reduced. eBay will suggest that you might want to make a modification to your listing in order to achieve eTRS standing for the listing and increase its exposure to buyers.

Category

If eBay identifies that a different category may be more suitable for your product than the currently selected category, recommendations will suggest up to three alternate category values that should be considered for your item. Proper categorization of your item is important not only to buyer visibility, but also to remain in compliance with eBay policies.

Condition

If the item is in a condition other than New, eBay allows additional description information to be provided regarding the details about the item's condition. By providing that additional information, the product is clearly described and the buyer is more likely to receive exactly what they expect when the item is in a condition other than New.

Price

Based on information eBay can see regarding the sales of similar items, there may be a recommendation for an alternate price that would be more successful. While this price may not be suitable for your situation, eBay has calculated that you are more likely to have successful sales if the price is adjusted to the new value. This may be a downward revision to get closer to the average selling price or an upward revision to help you maximize your revenue per item sold. There is no guarantee that the price adjustment will have any impact, but based on the history of sales this is a value that eBay thinks will be more successful for your product.

Title

When analyzing your title, there may be certain valuable keywords that are missing. Including these can help buyers find your item and thus increase visibility and sales. By comparing your product information to other sellers in the same category and with similar products there may be specific keywords that have been identified which you should consider including in your product listing.

Other

Additional recommendation may be added by eBay over time. These recommendations will be classified into the Other bucket but are still important pieces of information to use to improve your listing quality and increase exposure to buyers.
