eBay Promotions

Shoppers love a deal, and it shows: both with boosted sales and increased customer loyalty. Promotions allow sellers to create compelling offers that will engage buyers through sales events.

eBay and ChannelAdvisor support the following locales: US, UK, DE, AU, FR.

Use Promotions to:
  • Increase order sizes
  • Attract more shoppers
  • Boost sales by cross-selling related items

ChannelAdvisor’s support of this functionality allows sellers to set up Order Discount Offers with eBay’s Promotions Manager. With our filter functionality, retailers can scale their Promotions integration using filters to control which products are part of an eBay promotion. Our filters automatically add or remove products that meet the criteria a seller sets.

 

Setting up a Promotion


  1. Before getting started in ChannelAdvisor to set up a promotion, please make sure to agree to the User Agreement from eBay about Promotions Manager: http://cgi1.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SellerDiscountCampaignDashboard
  2. Navigate to Marketplaces > eBay > Optimization > Deals and Promotions.
  3. Click on the Create button and select Create a Promotion.
  4. Fill in the following fields:
    1. Name (Required) – Can be any name desired, and does not have to be unique.
    2. Start Time (Required) – Must be a date in the future.
      1. Select the appropriate time zone that applies.
    3. End Time (Required) – Must be in the future and after the start date.
      1. Select the appropriate time zone that applies.
    4. Deal Parameters (Required)
      1. eBay Account – Select the account you would like to use for your promotions. If this is your first time using the Promotions tool, you may see this message:
        Missing account authorization: One or more eBay accounts are not authorized for promotion processing. If the account you wish to configure is not listed below you can click here to set up authorization.
        If you see this, please go to the click here link to set up authorization.
      2. There will be three types of order discounts that can be selected, choose one of the following, and select the options from the drop-down boxes to customize the promotion to your needs:
        1. Buy – Example: Buy 1 Get 1 at 10% off
        2. Get – Example: Get 10% off your order when you spend at least $50
        3. Save – Example: Save $10 every time you spend $100

      3. Also part of the Parameters section will be an Examples  table, that will give you example discounts for example orders. Selections that are made with either the Buy, Get or Save discounts, will automatically show on this table.

    5. Listing Filters – Choose from a combination of Label, Brand, Category Number, Price Range and Quantity Range to select your items that will be part of this promotion. Please note that there is a limitation of 500 listings per promotion, so we will take the first 500 listings generated from that filter.
      1. If multiple values are selected in a single filter (e.g. "Clearance" and "Damaged Items" in the Label list above), then a listing must match at least one of the selected options.
        • Multiple values may be configured for Label, Brand, and Category Number.
      2. If multiple filters are configured (e.g. Brand and Price Range ), then a listing must meet all of the filters to be included.
      3. Once the filters have been selected, click the Test Filter button to test how many open listings qualify based on the rules of this filter.
      4. Once filters have been selected, click the Save and Exit button.
    6. If you would like to assign selected specific items to the promotion, please select the Save and Assign Specific Listings button. This will allow you to select items from the open listings view to be applied to this promotion.

 

Editing an Existing Promotion


Once a promotion has been created, you are able to edit it, depending on its current state:

  • Created State (Not Active) – All options may be edited.
  • Active State – Only the end time may be edited. All other values are read-only.
  • Completed or Deleted State – All values are read-only.

 

Editing a Promotion

  1. Navigate to Marketplaces > eBay > Optimization > Deals and Promotions.
  2. Click the name of the promotion you would like to edit.
    1. You may need to filter the Promotion Type column to only show Promotions Manager.
  3. Make changes as needed.
  4. Click the Save and Exit button when complete.

 

Deleting a Promotion

  1. Navigate to Marketplaces > eBay > Optimization > Deals and Promotions.
  2. Click the checkbox next to the promotion you would like to delete.
    1. You may need to filter the Promotion Type column to only show Promotions Manager.
  3. Click the Delete button.

Please note: Only promotions that are in the “created” state are eligible to be deleted. If you would like to stop an active promotion, please refer to the Ending a Promotion Now section of this article.

 

Pausing a Promotion

  1. Navigate to Marketplaces > eBay > Optimization > Deals and Promotions.
  2. Click the checkbox next to the promotion you would like to pause.
    1. You may need to filter the Promotion Type column to only show Promotions Manager.
  3. Click the Pause button.

 

Resuming a Promotion

  1. Navigate to Marketplaces > eBay > Optimization > Deals and Promotions.
  2. Click the checkbox next to the promotion you would like to resume.
    1. You may need to filter the Promotion Type column to only show Promotions Manager.
  3. Click the Resume button.

 

Ending a Promotion Now

  1. Navigate to Marketplaces > eBay > Optimization > Deals and Promotions.
  2. Click the checkbox next to the promotion you would like to end now.
    1. You may need to filter the Promotion Type column to only show Promotions Manager.
  3. Click the End Promotion Now button.
  4. This will place an end data in of now and end the promotion.

 

Setting up a Promotion from the Open Listings View

  5. Select the button on the top right, Save and Assign Specific Listings.
    1. From here you will be directed to the open listings view, where you can select the listings you would like to assign.
    2. Once all the listings are selected, click the Assign Selected button.
      1. Please note that there is a limitation of 500 listings per promotion, so we will take the first 500 listings generated from that filter.
  6. Then you will be taken back to the Edit a Promotion page, where you can make additional changes, or Save and Exit if you are complete.

 

Promotions with Errors


If an error has occurred with a setup of a promotion at eBay, the promotion will have a state of Error on the main Deals and Promotions page. The error message can be viewed in the Status Message column of that page as well.

Please note that once a promotion is in Error state, you will no longer be able to edit the promotion. It is suggested that you create a new promotion if need be.

Please note: Promotions in an Error status cannot be manually deleted. All promotions in an Error or Deleted status will be automatically deleted after 30 days.

Editing an Existing Promotion
