Getting Started – QuickStart vs. Custom

We have two methods of listing products on eBay. Which method you choose depends on your needs and comfort level with ChannelAdvisor.

With eBay QuickStart, ChannelAdvisor sellers can take a streamlined approach to selling on eBay. With one set of settings and template, QuickStart takes all of your preferences and automatically creates eBay Fixed Price listings. The QuickStart setup reduces the configuration needed to launch on eBay, making it more closely aligned with the launch process for other marketplaces supported by ChannelAdvisor. eBay QuickStart also allows you to take advantage of the Data Transformation Engine to use Business Rules and Lookup Lists to transform data before being sent to eBay.

If you're using eBay QuickStart this is what your eBay menu in the ChannelAdvisor user interface will look like:

Note: If you see a link for "Ads" under the Product Mapping header, then you are  not using eBay QuickStart.

While browsing other eBay SSC pages you might come across terms like Posting Templates, Ads or Schedules. Within these help pages we also link directly to pages that contain information about these. You can neglect this specific information and these terms as these apply to eBay Custom users only. But you should make yourself familiar with general information that applies to both methods.

eBay Custom is the classic way to sell on eBay via ChannelAdvisor and gives you the most control over how items are posted to the marketplace. With eBay Custom, sellers can vary their strategy by item or groups of items, with different listing settings (including auction format listings), different description templates, different schedules and more.

We recommend customers new to selling on eBay through ChannelAdvisor to follow the QuickStart method if it meets your needs. At this time eBay QuickStart is only available for accounts and locales that you do not currently list with on eBay through ChannelAdvisor. If you find later you need to migrate to eBay Custom, you can have it enabled by contacting our Support team.
