eBay Schedule Types

Below are the various schedule types available when posting eBay ads:

Standard Schedules

The standard schedule is the easiest option to ensure that your products are always available for buyers to purchase. With just a few simple options, you can determine the quantity and duration of your listings as well as any starting or ending conditions that are desired. Often, the default values are sufficient and can be used without any required changes. The standard schedule makes it very easy for you to assign all of your items to a single schedule and ensure that they are quickly and easily listed. To use a Standard Schedule, just configure the four options:

  • Quantity: The number of items that should be available to buyers, subject to limits on available quantity in the SKU
  • Duration: The length of each individual listing
  • Begin Date: When items should start listing
  • End Conditions: When items should stop listing, either based on remaining quantity or a ending date

With these four simple options, items can be quickly and easily submitted to manage and maintain your product availability to buyers. Quantity will be automatically restocked after a sale and new products will be submitted automatically when added to the schedule.

Maintain Open Listings Schedule (For both Auction and Fixed Price Listings)

It’s no secret that using Buy It Now (BIN) and Fixed Price listings can help sell products much faster than standard auctions. However, the speed at which items sell is only as fast as the speed that you can post the items to the marketplace. It is important for you to strike the right balance with your schedules. If hot-selling items don't post often enough, potential sales may be missed. If they post too often, the marketplace might become flooded and revenues can be lost. The Maintain Open Listings schedule type in ChannelAdvisor Complete is designed specifically to optimize this balance. Maintain schedules "maintain" your specified number of listings based on the criteria you set. There are three types of posting methods to choose from when using this schedule:

  • Maintain a specific number of open postings in the marketplace – The most basic version of the Maintain schedule will always keep a specific number of listings live on the marketplace for each item that uses the schedule. This schedule always keep a minimum of one live listing (per assigned item) on the site over a duration of three days. When this type of schedule is used with a Buy it Now, it becomes unnecessary to monitor the listings to replace items that sold via Buy It Now. The software will automatically post a new listing when an item sells.

For example, if an item sells in the middle of the night, another listing will automatically take its place on the marketplace. So instead of just selling one unit before that item is manually reposted, you could potentially sell an unlimited number of items.

  • Maintain a specific number of open postings based on bid activity (for Auction listings only) – A variation of this schedule type can maintain the specified number of listings for an item based on the number of bids other listings have drawn. Instead of only re-posting an item when one sells via Buy It Now, this type of schedule will post a new listing as soon as the existing listing receives a certain number of bids. This schedule will also work when items sell via Buy It Now.

  • "Post Maintained Ads Between" – Timing specifics with a relaunched ad – Select the time window that should be used when submitting new listings to eBay. If you want the relisted item(s) to go out immediately, then set up the times as follows:

Using these exact start and end times, 12:00 AM and 11:55 PM, have specific meaning to the system. If used, the system will relist the Ads on this schedule immediately.

Some sellers, however, like to have more control as to the timing of the relist. By using a more specific time frame in this section, our system will refrain from an immediate relist and instead follow a more specific relisting process. For example, if you would like your ads to be restricted to only create new listings between 6-9 PM, this area of the schedule might look like this:

With this configuration, ChannelAdvisor will not list the item immediately once the listing has expired and instead wait until the time frame above to list the item. It is also important to note that our system will spread the listings out across this time frame if you have multiple listings assigned to this schedule. So, unlike the first option where we send all available ads out at the same time as soon as they are eligible to go live, this option will spread the submission of those ads between 6 and 9 PM.

Daily Schedules (for Auction listings only)

Daily Schedules can provide a high level of posting control.  In a Daily Schedule, you select the day, time, and duration for your listings. When the specified day and time are met, if the ad is not currently open, then the ad is posted to create a new listing for the chosen duration. ChannelAdvisor Complete provides flexible daily scheduling options to meet your scheduling needs:

  • Daily Schedule: Single Posting Window – You can create a Daily Schedule that will post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for three-, seven-, and five-day durations, respectively. All Ads following this schedule pictured below will post to the marketplace between 2:00pm and 6:00pm Eastern time as long as there is not already another copy of the ad live and available to buyers. This posting window allows you to choose the time of day that works best for selling your items. This works perfectly for merchants who have a large listing window (of several hours) or who require the same posting window for each day of the week. You can benefit from this schedule by being able to post large number of Ads without fearing that they will all close at exactly the same time. The ChannelAdvisor Complete software will automatically distribute all the Ads on this schedule across the defined posting window.

  • Daily Schedule: Multiple Posting Windows – You may also sometimes need to have your items listed (and therefore closed) at different times on different days. This schedule works just like the basic daily schedule with one exception – this schedule allows you to assign a different posting window, duration and number of Ads to post for each day of the week you choose.

Multiple Quantity Schedules

Items with Fixed Price Listings are very effective ways to sell a large amounts of product very quickly. Multiple-quantity listings are very easy to set up using ChannelAdvisor Complete schedules.

Any of the schedule types in the ChannelAdvisor Complete application can be turned into a multiple-quantity schedule by simply increasing the Quantity in Each Listing value. This field controls the quantity of items to be added to each listing to create a Multiple Quantity Ad. If using automatic revise , the quantity will automatically be restocked in the open listing after each purchase or adjustment to the quantity on the SKU.

Selecting the All available inventory radio button will put all of the items available into a single listing.  Use a smaller value to obscure the total available quantity from buyers and give them a perception that they should purchase right away before the quantity sells out.
