Errored Listings

Error and warning messages generated during communication with eBay are shown in the Listing Errors view. These include messages generated when attempting to create a new listing as well as during the revision process while managing currently open listings.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Unlike other marketplaces, eBay requires that listing errors be cleared before the item is allowed to try and post again. Please be sure to get familiar with this process and to clear out any listing errors after they have been resolved.

Tasks to Complete


The following tasks can be performed by navigating to your Marketplaces > eBay > Performance > Listing Errors menu option.

Customize Your View

Within the Listing Errors view you will have multiple options to customize what data is displayed and how it is displayed. Below are all of the customization options you have in this view:

  1. Select Your View
    • Select the Products option in the upper right hand corner to view details for all products being sent to eBay. This displays the errors associated with each product and can be useful to understand details around a single product or ad.
    • Select the Errors option in the upper right hand corner to view summary information for all errors and warnings from eBay communication. To see the details of the errors and the affected SKUs, click on the number to get additional information.
  2. Select Columns and Column Order
    • Select the Settings button to choose which column heading are visible in your view.
    • Click and drag any column heading to alter the order that the columns are displayed.
    • Select the Reset button to revert to original settings.
  3. Search and Filter
    • For most columns you will have the option to search for a specified value by typing it into the text box or selecting it from a drop down menu.
  4. Export and Delete Items in View
    • Select the Export button to export data from view to Excel.
    • Select the Delete button to delete an item from the view.
    • If you would prefer to export all items and errors in a single list, use the additional option to export all elements in a single file. This will export all information for each item without any of the rollup counts of either errors or product information and allow you to review all of the information in a single data set.

 

Manage Listing Errors

To easily manage and resolve your eBay listing errors using the Listing Errors view:

  1. Select the Errors option in the upper right hand corner to view details for all products being sent to eBay that have received a listing error or warning.
  2. Read the error description for each error to determine next steps.
  3. Select the hyperlink under the Errors columns to view the SKUs associated to a specific error.
  4. View the more detailed error description for each SKU. From this view you can do the following:
    • View and edit the individual SKU.
    • View and edit the Description Template associated to the SKU.
    • View and edit the Posting Template associated to the SKU.
    • Export the view to excel for further analysis.

To easily manage and review the errors associated with an individual product or listing attempt using the Listings Errors view:

  1. Select the Products option in the upper right hand corner to view listing attempts for each product and errors and warnings associated with that request. If a request had multiple messages from eBay, each will be displayed on its own row.
  2. Select the appropriate links to review and update the information to correct the error condition.
  3. Delete the errors and allow the schedule to resubmit the ad to eBay.
