Mapping Options

The foundation of the merchandiser is the four mapping options that are available to complete each field of the module-specific template. These mapping options are what will determine which data is sent and how that data will look once your products are listed to the channel. The four mapping options are as follows:

  • Inventory Fields – Select an attribute from your inventory to send specific values from your inventory. Fields such as Price and Product ID are common fields that would utilize this mapping option since Price and Product ID values tend to be unique to most items in your inventory. When mapping using this option you will also have the option to select a back up field or text value to send in case the primary attribute does not have a value. This is recommended especially for template fields that are required
  • Static Text – This option allows you to enter a text value that will be applied to all items in the feed. Certain template fields like Condition may have one common value like New, that can be applied to all items by using this mapping option.
  • Business Rules – This is an advanced mapping option that allows you to manipulate and optimize your current data in order to meet a channel's guidelines. In most circumstances this option will allow you to use your current data as is and help you to avoid making large scale changes to your inventory data. Please refer to this page on Business Rules to learn more.
  • Lookup List – This is an alternative advanced mapping option that is often used in conjunction with a business rule. This option also allows you to manipulate your data in many ways by referring to a list of your inventory values and transforming those values in order to meet a channel's listing guidelines. Please refer to this page on Lookup Lists to learn more.
