Getting Started with Facebook Campaigns

Getting Started with Facebook Campaigns is as easy as completing these simple steps. You will want to reference each step in this guide while you are going through your Facebook Campaigns Launch Process. 

 

Launch Options


When setting up Facebook with ChannelAdvisor you have two options:

  1. Self-Guided Launch   - Completed by yourself using the information found on the tabs on this Setup Guide
  2. Launch Assistance Service   - A paid service offered by the ChannelAdvisor Launch Team that allows for you to have a dedicated email box for setup questions and a limited number of phone-based training and assistance calls to help you get setup on Facebook quicker and easier.  See  Sales for more information about this service. 

Prerequisites


Before beginning the launch process with any of the launch service options, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Create a Facebook account
  2. Create a Facebook page

 

Configure Inventory


In order to utilize ChannelAdvisor's Facebook Campaigns solution you must have inventory uploaded into your ChannelAdvisor account.  There are various methods of uploading your inventory into ChannelAdvisor. You can learn more about these methods by visiting the  Inventory Getting Started Guide The method you choose will depend on your specific situation. 

 

You will need to have data for the following inventory fields in order to be successful with Facebook Campaigns. Most of these fields have already been created in your ChannelAdvisor account and you will just need to make sure that you have supplied the relevant data. However, certain fields such as  Product URL  will require that a new attribute be created.

  • SKU*
  • Item Title*
  • Product URL (Action URL)*
  • Product Image URL*
  • Current Price*
  • Regular Price
  • Short Description
  • UPC
  • Long Description
  • Merchant Category
  • MPN
  • Stock Status

Install Tracking Pixels


Tracking pixels must be installed on various pages of your website to capture traffic, order and event data. The pixels are JavaScript and HTML code and are very similar to others you may already have on your site. Each pixel is a 1x1 image that is invisible to the user. For active campaigns, once the pixel is installed you should expect to see reporting in ChannelAdvisor within 24 hours.


Tasks to Complete

By navigating to your   My Account > Account Settings > Tracking Pixel   view you can being the process of Installing your tracking pixels.   Below is a list of the tracking pixels that can be installed on your website.

Please Note:   If you do not have the access or knowledge to make these changes to your website you should contact your web developer or whoever makes changes to your site. 

  • Natural Search Pixel (Required)   - This pixel captures inbound traffic information.
  • Order Tracking Pixel (Required)   - This pixel captures order and conversion information which is used to measure the effectiveness of each campaign.
  • Event Based Pixel (Optional)   - This pixel allows you to track different actions on your site and measure them as part of your overall search marketing program

Create Campaigns


To create a Facebook Campaign you will need to complete a series of setup steps via the setup guide.  .

Tasks To Complete

Before creating your first campaign you will be prompted to complete a series of reference field mappings. These are default, ChannelAdvisor-defined fields used for default templates and business rules. If your inventory fields are properly mapped to the reference fields on the Reference Field Mappings page, we will replace the reference field with the correct inventory field and all default templates will be properly configured to use the correct fields in your inventory. 
Complete the following tasks in the setup guide:

  1. Create a Campaign
  2. Authenticate the Campaign
  3. Create a Banner
  4. Create a Campaign Layout
  5. Create a Schedule
  6. Preview the Campaign
  7. Activate the Campaign

Managing Campaigns


The Campaigns and Performance views will serve as your primary location for managing all of the Facebook campaigns and monitoring their performance. You can perform a variety of tasks from this view as outlined below. Begin by navigating to your  Social > Facebook   view. 


Managing Campaigns

Within your Social > Facebook > Campaigns view you will be able to view and manage all of your existing campaigns. 

  • Campaign Details Below are the fields that you can view information for in the Campaigns view:
    • Campaign Name
    • Status
    • Actions
    • Banners
    • Products
    • Date of Last Update
    • Campaign Management Actions
       
  • Campaign Actions - Under the Actions column for any existing campaign you will have several options to choose from: 
    • Editing Campaigns  - Select this icon to edit your campaign configurations (This will enter you back into the Guide).
    • Preview  -  Select to preview your campaign as it appears on Facebook.
    • Delete  -  Select to delete a campaign.
    • Activate  -  Select to activate a campaign.
    • Submit  -  Select to manually submit a campaign.
    • Deactivate  -  Select to deactivate a campaign.

 

Monitor Campaign Performace

 

You can monitor the performance of your campaigns by navigating to your  Social > Facebook > Performance  view. Here you will be able to  view the following:

  • Overview of traffic and sales metrics for the performance of your Facebook campaigns.
  • Data for Channel, Provider and Fields can be viewed in a Dashboard by clicking  Zoom Out .
  • Data can be exported to view Campaign, Provider, Pixel Hits, Likes, Sends, Shares, Orders Events, Assists, Conversion, Revenue, Product, Net Margin, Trs, Avg. Order Value.
  • You can change your view by either drilling into the left column or by using the  Filter  or  Modify Search .
