How To

Multi Channel Fulfillment with Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)

Your Amazon Fulfilment by Amazon (FBA) quantity is no longer just for your Amazon listings! You can advertise this quantity on any ChannelAdvisor-supported channel and juggle quantity across channels to gain maximum exposure for your products. When orders come in, ChannelAdvisor will route the order fulfillment request to Amazon FBA fulfillment warehouse where the order will be picked, packed and shipped with shipping & tracking information sent back to the sales channel for the ultimate buyer.

Prerequisites

You should be familiar with the following topics before continuing:

Multi Channel Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Program Features

  • ChannelAdvisor auto-detects FBA quantity directly from Amazon.
  • List quantity held in FBA on any ChannelAdvisor-supported channel (e.g. Amazon, eBay US, eBay UK, Sears, ChannelAdvisor Premium Webstore) and fulfill orders via Amazon's FBA.
  • Choose which channels to enable for Multi Channel FBA fulfillment.
  • Juggle quantities, if necessary, to gain maximum exposure for your products.
  • When there is purchase on a channel (e.g. eBay), ChannelAdvisor will communicate the order to Amazon FBA for fulfillment processing.
  • Amazon FBA will pick, pack and ship the order while returning shipping & tracking information back to ChannelAdvisor and the sales channel.
  • Amazon uses a variety of different shipping services to meet or exceed the desired shipping speed. Products can be shipped Standard (3-5 Days), Expedited (2 Business Days), or Priority (1 Business Day).
  • Set up the Multi Channel ability in your Amazon Seller Central account and choose to fulfill using the Brand Neutral program products packaged in a non-branded box. Please see Amazon's information and fees for this program - Branding Options for Multi Channel Fulfillment.
  • Packing slips can include your merchant name and informational text if you choose to include customer service contact information on your shipments. Please see Amazon's information and  for this program - Branding Options for Multi Channel Fulfillment.
  • Use Multi Channel FBA exclusively to fulfill orders on other channels while not listing on Amazon.com.
  • If Amazon refuses a fulfillment (for lack of quantity or other reason), you will be notified and given the option to Retry, Cancel Request or to Change the Distribution Center to your Seller-Managed DC.
  • Ability to establish fulfillment priority (FBA vs. Seller Fulfilled) using your ChannelAdvisor DC Settings.

Tasks to Complete

To set up the Multi Channel FBA feature you must sign up for FBA on Amazon, activate Multi Channel Fulfilment and then perform some set up in ChannelAdvisor.

Considerations

  • Currently the feature supports ChannelAdvisor-managed channels only. If you have a channel outside of ChannelAdvisor, such as your own webstore, you will need to submit fulfillment requests to Amazon manually via Seller Central.
  • The feature is activated or deactivated by channel for any SKU held in FBA. In the DC Settings page you can create a listing and fulfillment strategy for each channel.   For example, this allows you to prioritize FBA fulfillment first and seller-managed fulfillment second for Sears and seller-managed first and FBA second for eBay. There is not currently any SKU-level eligibility or priority.
  • Quantity is limited to ONE seller Distribution Center and FBA.
  • The seller has no control of the shipping carrier Amazon uses to actually ship the product to the buyer. If you are using Multi-Channel Fulfillment with FBA, your displayed shipping carriers to buyers should always be generic -- for example, USPS Standard Post should be displayed with the Economy Shipping option on eBay.
  • Check Out Direct is not supported
  • Advertised quantity is either FBA or Seller DC, not the sum of the two.
  • Feature does not work with allocated listings, so to use Multi Channel FBA, eBay sellers need to move to the new non-allocated model.
  • Multi Channel FBA fees differ from regular FBA fees and will include the shipping amount as part of the fee. Additionally, will depend on the category type and the product size. Please consult the Fulfillment Fees for Multi Channel Fulfillment Orders for complete information.
  • With Multi-Channel Fulfillment, you are responsible for all service issues related to the fulfillment of your customers' orders. Please review the Amazon policy on Customer Service for Multi Channel Fulfillment Orders.  Additionally, there are other differences between regular FBA and Multi Channel FBA. View the Amazon FBA Comparison Chart for more information.
  • Amazon has a beta program for accepting returns. Please see Amazon's updates  - Fulfillment Customer Returns.
  • If you are a UK seller, there may be some program differences. Please review the Amazon Multi Channel Fulfillment UK for information.
  • Amazon does not currently support multi channel fulfillment for international export (shipping orders outside of the US) for non-media products with the exception orders going to Hawaii/Alaska, US Territories and US APO/FBOs.
