Tasks to Complete

  1. Determine Your Newegg Subcategories
  2. Add Newegg Subcategory to Your Inventory
  3. Review Product Requirements

Determine Your Newegg Subcategories

The first step in listing your products is to determine which Newegg subcategories your products belong in and ensuring that there are no restrictions on those subcategories. To see a full list of subcategories download the Newegg Subcategory List .

Note: You may need to right click and use Save As to download the spreadsheet when using certain browsers.

Add Newegg Subcategory to Your Inventory

Once you have determined the subcategories in which you are going to sell you are now ready to prepare your inventory. There are two scenarios that you will encounter when going through this process.

Scenario 1: Create Inventory Attribute

You would like or will need to send a data point that is not currently part of your inventory. In this scenario you may need to add a new attribute to your inventory and populate that attribute with the values that Newegg accepts. To learn more about adding attributes please refer to the Using Inventory Attributes page.

Scenario 2: Transform Your Data to Meet Newegg's Requirements

You have the data point in your inventory but your values don't match the values accepted by Newegg. For example, say you happen to have a color called Fire Engine Red which is not a color value accepted by Newegg. Although you could create a new attribute for color in your inventory specifically for Newegg it is far more efficient and highly recommended that you utilize a business rule or a lookup list to transform your color value into the value accepted by Newegg. There are two options available to manipulate your data into a value accepted by Newegg without having to clutter up your inventory with extra attributes. Please refer to the SSC page on Business Rules and Lookup Lists to learn more about utilizing these tools to manipulate your data.

Review Product Requirements (Optional)

Newegg requires sub-category specific product information. While the ChannelAdvisor Product Mapping Template removes much of the complexity involved in sending this information, it is still best to review Newegg's data requirements for each sub-category that you will sell in. In the Newegg Seller Portal, you can download an Excel Spreadsheet for each Newegg sub-category that will outline these requirements. Follow the instructions below to access these documents.
