How To

Manually Specifying Vehicles for eBay's Parts Compatibility – IT Specifications

The manual specification method allows you to define the specific vehicles supported by the listed automotive part. Specification rules vary by the different locales. This page discusses the Italian specifications. To view alternative locale specifications see below.

The only option for Italian Fitment listings is to individually list each of the Make, Model, Platform, and potentially other characteristics for the vehicles supported by the part. Each possible vehicle option needs to be detailed to ensure that comprehensive options are provided to prospective shoppers. While there is a limit of 3000 compatible vehicles that can be supported, combining several Type and Engine listings into a single specification will allow you to define your parts comprehensively and stay under the 3000 limit. Parts with more than 3000 compatibilities will be rejected, so you can submit more comprehensive lists by only including Make, Model, Platform when sufficient to describe the vehicles.

For this information, eBay is using AAIA-compliant (ACES) definitions of the vehicles. If you know that your items will not be part of the catalog and will have to be listed in this format, it will be to your advantage to research this information and determine how to collect the various vehicle details for each of your items. You can download the official list of supported vehicles (now available directly from eBay, updated quarterly) to ensure that your submissions will be successful.

Tasks to Complete

To configure manual parts compatibility, your information will need to be in one of the following formats:

Detailed Format (Vehicle Parts only)

Use the following format to provide the necessary vehicle options:

MAKE | MODEL | PLATFORM | TYPE | PRODUCTION PERIOD | ENGINE::NOTES
MAKE | MODEL | PLATFORM | TYPE | PRODUCTION PERIOD | ENGINE::NOTES

  • Make, Model and Platform are required fields.
  • Type, Production Period, Engine and Notes fields are optional and should only be used when necessary.
  • The pipe is used as a separator between the vehicle information.
  • The double colon (::) marks any notes that should be included.
  • Line breaks indicate a different vehicle.

Please note: Due to minor updates that can cause your products to fail we strongly recommend against using the Type, Year, and Engine values unless absolutely necessary for your item, or to focus on using the KType values instead and avoid any nuanced changes eBay may make to the vehicle specification data. If intending to export fitment information you may need to separate each vehicle using ^^ instead of line breaks.

Example 1:

Jeep|Cherokee|KK
Jeep|Cherokee|KJ::Special note about KJ model
Jeep|Cherokee|XJ

Example 2: A more complex option, specifying certain information about some BMW X1 vehicles could have this format:

BMW|X1|E84|xDrive28i|2009/10-2016/12|2996 ccm, 190 KW, 258 PS
BMW|X1|E84|sDrive18d|2009/10-2016/12|1995 ccm, 105 KW, 143 PS
BMW|X1|E84|xDrive18d|2009/03-2016/12|1995 ccm, 100 KW, 136 PS
BMW|X1|E84|xDrive25i::All engines are supported.

KType Format (Vehicle Parts only)

Use this format if you have the KType values. KType values can be retrieved from the Master Vehicle List published by eBay

KTYPE::NOTES
KTYPE::NOTES

  • The KType value is a special number assigned by eBay that identifies a specific vehicle without requiring the details of Make, Model, Variant, and others to be specified by the seller and is an alternate method to submit the same information.

Example:
32112
32113
32114
34993::All engines are supported.

Please note: There is a limit of 3000 compatible vehicles that can be supported, combining several Body Style and Engine listings into a single specification will allow you to define your parts comprehensively and stay under the 3000 limit. Parts with more than 3000 compatibilities will be rejected, so you can submit more comprehensive lists by only including Make, Model, Variant when sufficient to describe the vehicles.
