How To

Getting Started with La Redoute

Before getting started on the La Redoute marketplace, please be aware of these important requirements:

  1. Official language is French – The official language on La Redoute is French. This means you need to provide all customer-facing text, e.g. titles, descriptions etc. in French. This data must be professionally translated. You will not be able to use such services like Google Translate.
  2. Provide Customer Service in French – You must be able to provide Customer Service in French (both via email and by phone). You must also provide, according to French Law, a toll-free or local rate number for your buyers to call. Similar to the requirements for data translation, you must use a professional service and/or native speaker – you cannot provide Customer Services via email using Google Translate or a similar service.
  3. SKU limit of 32 characters – SKU IDs have to be 32 characters or less. If your SKUs exceed the limit and you already list to other marketplaces adjusting your SKUs is not recommendable. In this case, La Redoute wouldn't be a good fit.
  4. You need to supply an EAN as product identifier – You can only sell items on La Redoute if you provide an EAN as the unique product identifier with the product feed.
  5. Products must be listed in EURO – All listings on La Redoute must be listed in Euro. You will also be paid by La Redoute in Euro.
  6. Products need to be new – You cannot sell refurbished or used products on La Redoute.
  7. Images need to be 400 x 400 pixel – Your images have to have a minimum size of 400 x 400 pixel. 1200 x 1200 is recommended so zoom functionality can be activated for your images.
  8. Invite Only Marketplace – La Redoute is an invite-only marketplace; not all sellers will fit their requirements. Please speak with your ChannelAdvisor Account Manager or your sales representative for more details on how to submit your request to sell on this channel.

If these requirements are not an issue for you, getting started on La Redoute is as easy as completing these simple steps. You will want to reference each step in this guide while you are going through your La Redoute Launch Process.

Launch Options

When setting up La Redoute with ChannelAdvisor, you have two Launch options:

  1. Launch Plus Service – A paid for service offered by the ChannelAdvisor Launch Team that allows for you to stay in contact via email with and get a limited number of telephone trainings from a dedicated ChannelAdvisor Implementation Specialist, but also includes additional setup elements and assistance: the setup of your La Redoute template, the assisted upload of products and help launching products to La Redoute. To enquire about this service contact Sales for more information.

  2. To enquire about this service contact Sales for more information. In comparison to the Launch Plus, the Launch Assistance will require you as the seller to perform the majority of the setup work.

Prerequisites

Before beginning the launch process with any of the launch service options, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Create your La Redoute seller account – Contact your CA Sales representative for further information. Please note that La Redoute is an invite-only marketplace which means all sellers will need to be pre-approved by La Redoute. This can take several weeks.
  2. Obtain your La Redoute Seller ID – You'll need your Seller ID when completing the La Redoute settings. Once you have signed an agreement with La Redoute, your representative there will share with you your account details when they are ready. It is important to note that we will be unable to commence your launch until these details are received.
  3. FR Posting Account – If you don't already have one request from ChannelAdvisor support a FR posting account .

Configure Inventory

Before listing your products on the La Redoute marketplace, it is important to be aware of La Redoute's listing requirements.

Product Value Codes

La Redoute organizes the products in different categories that are based on codes for brands, departments (Home, Apparel, Other) and size and color. You can obtain those codes from 5 reference files provided by your Launch Manager.

If this kind of information does not already exist in your inventory, you may need to add a new attribute to your inventory and populate that attribute with the values that La Redoute accepts. To learn more about adding attributes, please refer to the Using Inventory Attributes page.

If you already have a similar data point in your inventory but your values do not match the La Redoute values, you can utilize a business rule or a lookup list to transform your value to match a La Redoute Product Value Code.

Please refer to the SSC page on Business Rules and Lookup Lists to learn more about utilizing these tools to manipulate your data.

Product Variations

La Redoute supports variations which they call "declinations". Child items use the description and attributes of their parents. But you need to provide specific information on color, size and pricing. La Redoute also requires at least 1 image per variation item.

NOTE: Once you submitted an item as a standalone product you cannot add variations anymore. For this reason, it is very important that time is taken to ensure your product data is as accurate as possible upon sending your first feed to La Redoute.

Images

At least one image is required per "product" and the first image will be displayed in the search results list. You can send up to 8 images.

  • The required file format is .jpg
  • Images have to have a minimum dimension of 400 x 400 pixels.
  • The recommended size is 1200 x 1200 pixels. Zoom can be activated if your images have that size.
  • Images are accepted up to a size of 3500 pixels. However, they will be automatically reduced to 1200 pixels.
  • The maximum file size allowed is 500 KB.

Search Optimization

  • The title should be efficiently phrased. Attributes and item specifics don't need to be included as they are already indexed separately.

Other Inventory Considerations

  • All titles, descriptions and other required text needs to be in French.
  • There is no character limit on titles. But La Redoute advises to use maximal 36 characters. Html is not allowed.
  • The description length isn't limited either. But La Redoute recommends not to exceed 3000 characters to make it attractive. It is recommended not to use html as it could lead to display problems on the site.

Configure Marketplace Settings

Configuring your La Redoute Settings will set the foundation for your account integration with the marketplace. You will select a label that will be associated with the inventory you want to send to La Redoute, define quantity settings and enter account information. Begin by navigating to Marketplaces > La Redoute > Settings. View the Marketplaces Settings page for more details on the set up.

Note: In the La Redoute Settings you'll find the option Filters - Do not send zero quantity items. We recommend to activate this option. This will stop your account from sending and inducting items to the La Redoute catalogue that are not required right now.

List Your Products

Once you have completed the Marketplace Settings you will need to complete the La Redoute Product Mapping Template in ChannelAdvisor, located under Marketplaces > La Redoute > Product Mapping > Template.

Mapping the Template

ChannelAdvisor Product Mapping Templates are used to define the exact data that will be sent to the marketplace when creating or updating a listing. The template will contain all the fields accepted by the marketplace and will allow you to specify what product information should be sent for each product listing. You will have four options to complete each template field. The option that works best for you will depend on how you have prepared your inventory for each site's data requirements.

For detailed information on how to utilize templates in ChannelAdvisor please visit the Customizing Template Fields page of the Strategy and Support Center.

La Redoute Template Strategies

To enable our sellers to map the template in an efficient manner, any fields which appear in several categories are grouped together on the Common tab on the template. Any fields which are specific to a particular category can be found in their corresponding tab on the template screen.

Be sure to complete all required template fields indicated by a red asterisk. Below is a list of these fields along with additional information to keep in mind when mapping the template:

  1. Category – This is the code of the category you wish to list your products in. Also know as the ‘Sous Code Famille’ to La Redoute. All codes begin with the letter S. You may download the latest copy of the category list here .
  2. Brand Code – La Redoute has designated a code to each brand and requires this code to be send. Map to the attribute in your inventory that contains the La Redoute category value. Or use Business Rules and Lookup Lists to manipulate your inventory data to supply the codes in your feed. You can download a copy of the codes here . If your brand name does not exist in the list of valid values, you must request this is added to the list from your La Redoute Account Manager.
  3. Brand Logo – La Redoute requires that all sellers supply a logo pertinent to their brand, not necessarily to the products you are selling. Image should be no larger than 3500px on any side and must be in .jpg format.
  4. Product Description – Used to show buyers additional details of your products. Must be in French and must not exceed 3000 characters.
  5. Title – Product Name or Label as it is described in some documentation from La Redoute. Must be in French and is recommended to not exceed 36 characters.
  6. EAN – Please provide the EAN as the unique product identifier. La Redoute locates a product within their catalog based on the EAN or adds it to the catalog.
  7. Max Time To Deliver – The maximum number of days to deliver the product.
  8. Min Time To Deliver – The minimum number of days to deliver the product.
  9. Product Image 1 – You need to provide a direct URL to the actual image here.
  10. Selling Price – This is the product selling price in Euro, incl. VAT.
  11. Shipping Cost – You cannot designate different shipping fees for different regions - only this single shipping field is available. It is again in Euro.
  12. VAT rate – Only the French rate of VAT is acceptable. Please ensure the current rate is being used.
Additional information – also on the other fields – is displayed when you hover your mouse over the question tag icon next to each field in the template.

Activate Integration

Activate La Redoute Integration

At this stage your account is ready to be activated to communicate and exchange data with the La Redoute marketplace. First you will assign the label you selected in your La Redoute settings to your designated inventory items. Next you'll activate the marketplace feed. Please navigate again to Marketplaces > La Redoute > Settings to complete this step. View the Activating Your Marketplaces Integration page for more details.

Communication Frequency

Now that your La Redoute integration has been activated, ChannelAdvisor and La Redoute will be able to communicate. Depending on the number of SKUs and the complexity of your inventory information, the amount of time it takes to process, communicate, and update on the marketplace could vary. Refer to the Marketplaces - Processing and Communication Frequency page for more information on this subject.

Specific for La Redoute: Account Testing

In order to have your products display on the La Redoute website, you must complete several tests to show that you are ready to manage your account. This is a requirement from La Redoute marketplace.

  1. Send product live to La Redoute (note La Redoute will request you list less than 10 products at this time).
  2. Have La Redoute mark the product as "live" (may take 24 - 48 hours).
  3. Purchase product as if you are a buyer.

Manage Your Listings

Once you have activated your La Redoute integration, you should begin seeing activity almost immediately. You may notice that some of your products have not listed properly or have not listed at all. It will be crucial that you consistently manage your La Redoute account integration in ChannelAdvisor to monitor these issues.

La Redoute Product Dashboard

ChannelAdvisor provides you with a dashboard that assists you with this effort. The La Redoute Product Overview page is a marketplace-specific dashboard that provides you with an overview of the current status of all your products assigned to La Redoute. You can access this page via the menu from Marketplaces > La Redoute > Products > Overview.

Product Status View

The Product Status view will serve as your La Redoute listing management headquarters. From this view you will be able to view detailed information about all of the products you are sending to La Redoute. You will be able to monitor the performance of your items as well as troubleshoot any listing errors you may have received. Navigate to Marketplaces > La Redoute > Products > Product Status view.

Resolving La Redoute Errors

There is a wide range of listing errors that you may receive when listing to La Redoute. Resolving these errors can typically be accomplished by utilizing one of these two methods.

  • Method 1: Edit Your Template Mappings – The La Redoute Template is what tells ChannelAdvisor what data to send. Failure to map the appropriate fields with the appropriate values from your inventory can result in listing errors. When you receive a listing error it is almost always a good idea to check your template.
  • Method 2: Edit Your Inventory Data – If you find the template appears to be mapped correctly and in accordance with La Redoute's specifications, more than likely the source of the error is in your inventory data.

For further guidance, see our Common La Redoute Errors page .

Fulfill/Cancel Orders

Sales are handled through the integrated shopping cart of the Marketplace. Order information details are then imported to ChannelAdvisor in the All Sales view ( Sales > Orders/Transactions > Orders) where you can manage your fulfillment process, update shipping and tracking information and process any refunds or cancellations.

Importing Orders

From your All Sales view you can easily manage the fulfillment process for all orders imported from the marketplace. Whether you use ChannelAdvisor or a third party fulfillment system to manage your orders, ChannelAdvisor offers the tools to optimize your fulfillment strategy.

  2. Once imported, your orders will appear in the Sales > Orders/Transactions > Orders view alongside all of your other orders.

Please refer to the Sales and Fulfillment section for additional information.

Update Shipping and Tracking

After fulfillment is complete, your next step is to update the ChannelAdvisor Complete software with shipping and tracking information. This step is highly important since you will not be paid for your sales until this information is received by the Marketplace. Once your tracking numbers are provided and your order status is updated to shipped ChannelAdvisor will send this information to the Marketplace. There are three primary methods to complete this process.

Please note that we can send partial order shipments to La Redoute but not partial line item shipments. You can still split a line item across multiple shipments. But we will only send the shipping update to La Redoute once the full line item quantity is shipped.

Refer to the Updating Shipping and Tracking Information page for further details.

Cancelling and Refunding Orders

A refund is only necessary if you have already marked the order as shipped. If you have not marked the order as shipped, canceling an order within our system, will cancel the order on the Marketplace. If the buyer contacts you after their purchase looking for a refund, you may process their request by going to the Sales > Orders/Transactions > Orders view.

For La Redoute you can refund an order completely, partially or even refund only a certain quantity of a line item.

Refer to the Cancellations & Refunds in ChannelAdvisor page for further details.
