Getting Started with MercadoLibre Cross-Border Trade

Before getting started on MercadoLibre Cross-Border Trade, please be aware of these important requirements:

  1. You need to be a US-based seller with a US banking account.
  2. You need to have a ChannelAdvisor US locale posting account.
  3. You need to be able to ship your products quickly to the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse in the US – MercadoLibre CBT fulfills all shipments to Latin America from their warehouse in the US. The package should arrive at the US warehouse within five days after purchase to avoid long shipping times to the buyer.
  4. Be ready to answer buyers' questions – MercadoLibre CBT provides a tool to reply to listing and order questions in English, Spanish, or Portuguese.
  5. Offer competitive product prices – You will send your US product prices and domestic shipping cost to MercadoLibre CBT. MercadoLibre CBT then adds additional costs like listing fees, customs, importation taxes and international shipping to the price and lists the total (merchant price, US domestic shipping cost, duties & taxes, international shipping cost, MercadoLibre fee) as the price buyers have to pay on MercadoLibre marketplaces.

Launch Options


When setting up MercadoLibre CBT with ChannelAdvisor you have two launch options:

  1. Launch Assistance Service – A paid service offered by ChannelAdvisor that allows for you to stay in contact via email with and get a limited number of telephone trainings from a dedicated ChannelAdvisor Implementation Specialist to help you get setup on MercadoLibre CBT quicker and easier. Prerequisites


Before beginning the launch process, you will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Review the MercadoLibre Cross-Border Trade Program Description .
  2. Contact MercadoLibre CBT (cbt-support@mercadolibre.com) to discuss any product pricing, product listing limits, content translation, logistics strategy and concerns.
  3. Send a sample file of 1000 SKUs to cbt-support@mercadolibre.com for review. Your product data has to include price, title, description, category info, and product weight. Be sure to include a product in each of the MercadoLibre CBT categories you wish to list in. You can create that file via an inventory export .
  4. Register for an account with MercadoLibre CBT, accept their terms & conditions, upload your logo, company FAQs , and customer service contact information to setup your MercadoLibre listing template.
  5. Contact your ChannelAdvisor Sales Representative or your Account Manager to request access to the MercadoLibre CBT integration.

Configure Inventory


Before submitting your products to MercadoLibre CBT, it is important to be aware of their listing requirements.


Marketplace Category ID

You need to supply that ID to list your items successfully. You'll find a list of all categories in the MercadoLibre CBT list of categories . To find the appropriate ID click on the categories until you've chosen the lowest leaf category. Only then, you'll see an ID below the category columns that you'll use in ChannelAdvisor. After transferring this data to MercadoLibre CBT they will convert it into the matching IDs for MercadoLibre marketplaces.

If this kind of information does not already exist in your inventory, you may need to add a new attribute to your inventory and populate that attribute with the values that MercadoLibre CBT accepts. To learn more about adding attributes, please refer to the Using Inventory Attributes page.

If you already have a similar data point in your inventory but your values do not match the MercadoLibre CBT values, you can utilize a business rule or a lookup list to transform your value to match a MercadoLibre CBT value.

Product Variations

Each MercadoLibre Marketplace supports variations in certain categories. You can see in the Category List if your category supports variations – attributes are displayed below the grid. You need to provide these attribute values for Size and / or Color if your items should be listed as variations.

If the item is Multi-SKU (parent-child), include color and US size in the title of the child SKU. When we list in countries where variations are not supported, color and US size will be part of the title. This will make it easier for the buyer to find the preferred product. Specify the size correctly, for example "US Size 6" and not only "Size 6" as the measurements might differ from country to country.

Titles

Pass the most important things in the beginning of the title, like Brand, Model, Product Type. Leave the less important things to the end of the title or out of it. The reason is that the Title field on MercadoLibre is limited to 60 characters. It can happen that your English product title meets that requirement, but that the translations into Portuguese and Spanish will exceed the limit. In that case the title might be chopped and important information might be removed from the title.

Avoid things like BRAND NEW, L@@K, HOT or anything that qualifies the product does not translate well.

Images

One image is required when listing products to MercadoLibre CBT. Allowed formats are jpg, gif or png. The size limit is 10 MB. You can send up to 6 images per product.

Videos

MercadoLibre CBT allows you to send a full YouTube URL per product.

Other Inventory Considerations

  • Items need to be in condition "New". Used or refurbished items cannot be listed.
  • You need to supply a SKU for your items. There is a 50 character limit.
  • Titles are limited to 60 characters.
  • Descriptions are limited to 2,000 characters.
  • MercadoLibre CBT allows only very simple HTML tags in the item description (<br />, <p>, <ul>).

Configure Marketplace Settings


 


Configuring your MercadoLibre CBT Settings will set the foundation for your account integration with the marketplace. You will select a label that will be associated with the inventory you want to send to MercadoLibre CBT, define quantity settings and enter account information. Begin by navigating to Marketplaces > MercadoLibre CBT > Settings. View the Marketplaces Settings page for more details on the set up.

List Your Products


Once you have completed the Marketplace Settings you will need to complete the MercadoLibre CBT Product Mapping Template in ChannelAdvisor, located under Marketplaces > MercadoLibre CBT > Product Mapping > Template.


Mapping the Template

ChannelAdvisor Product Mapping Templates are used to define the exact data that will be sent to MercadoLibre CBT when creating or updating a listing. The template will contain all the fields accepted by MercadoLibre CBT and will allow you to specify what product information should be sent for each product listing. You will have four options to complete each template field. The option that works best for you will depend on how you have prepared your inventory for each site's data requirements.

MercadoLibre CBT Template Strategies

Be sure to complete all required template fields indicated by a red asterisk. Below is a list of these fields along with additional information to keep in mind when mapping the template:

  1. Category – Determine which MercadoLibre CBT Category ID your products belong in. You can retrieve all IDs from the MercadoLibre CBT list of categories .
  2. Condition – The item condition must be new.
  3. Country of Origin – Please enter the 2 letter ISO Country Code of the country where the product is manufactured, for example US for United States, CN for China.
  4. Is Translation Required – Enter True if your data needs to be translated into Spanish and Portuguese. Enter False if you will provide Portuguese and Spanish values for Title and Description.
  5. Description – You have to provide an English description. If you have Spanish or Portuguese description values, populate the Description-Spanish and Description-Portuguese fields as well.
    • Please note: MercadoLibre Marketplaces do not allow sellers to display contact information (email, phone, etc) within the listings. If it is included the listing will be blocked.
  6. Price – This is the product selling price in US Dollars.
    • Best Practice: It is important to remember that MercadoLibre CBT does not charge a ‘net of product price’ to Merchants. If you send a product price of $100, you will receive $100 if the product is sold. Since there are no seller fees on the product price, merchants are advised to lower the product price while keeping a healthy profit. This will make your products more competitive and will benefit buyers with lower duties/taxes and marketplace fees.
  7. Publish Sites – Sellers must enter the value of “BR, MX”. At this time, you cannot pick a specific site in this field. MercadoLibre CBT will list to all integrated sites.
  8. Title – This is the item name. You have to provide an English Title. If you have Spanish or Portuguese title values, use the Title-Spanish and Title-Portuguese fields. This field is limited to 60 characters.
  9. Brand and Model – Though the fields are optional, we highly encourage you to map these fields. When brand and model are passed to MercadoLibre CBT they won't be translated in the title. For example, if a title for a product contains "Apple", add it in a Brand attribute in your inventory and map that attribute to the Brand field in the template. If you don't provide any values for Brand and Model, MercadoLibre CBT might translate Apple into Maçã. The title might then read "Maçã iPhone 6...".
  10. Estimated Delivery Time – Enter how quickly you pick, pack and ship your items from your facilities to deliver to the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse. MercadoLibre CBT recommends that this value is a maximum of 5 days, as it takes an average of 10 days to get to the final destination from the US Logistics Warehouse.
  11. Shipping Cost – This is the domestic shipping cost for sending the package from your warehouse to the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse. MercadoLibre CBT uses this cost as part of the calculation of the price the buyer pays. It is suggested that you use a flat rate for domestic shipping cost, as MercadoLibre CBT, has more than one warehouse that it will be using.  
  12. Shipping From – Please enter the 2 letter ISO Country Code of the country the item will be shipped from, for example US for United States, CN for China.
  13. Package Dimensions – The package weight is required, however, providing the package length, width, height will assist MercadoLibre CBT with calculating a more accurate cost of international shipping that the buyer will pay as part of the price of the product.
  14. Image - At least one image is required. Allowed formats are jpg, gif or png. The size limit is 10 MB. You can send up to 6 images per product.
  15. Variation Attributes – If the selected category ID supports variation, you will need to populate all of the given attributes listed. In most cases, the attributes are color and size. To find a list of attributes and valid values for a specific category, click here .
  16. Specifications – You can send your own set of item specifics or attributes for your products which will be displayed in a table format on the listing. You will map the item specifications in the category-specific section of the MercadoLibre CBT template. You need to enter the attribute name and value in pairs in the following format "attribute name: attribute value". Samples would be "Color: Red", "Material: Cotton". If you want to enter more than one pair per Specification field, separate them by a ~. A sample would be "Color: Red~Material: Cotton~Size: M".

Activate Integration



Activate MercadoLibre CBT Integration

At this stage your account is ready to be activated to communicate and exchange data with the MercadoLibre CBT marketplace. First you will assign the label you selected in your MercadoLibre CBT settings to your designated inventory items. Next you'll activate the marketplace feed. Please navigate again to Marketplaces > MercadoLibre CBT > Settings to complete this step. View the Activating Your Marketplaces Integration page for more details.

Communication Frequency

Now that your MercadoLibre CBT integration has been activated, ChannelAdvisor and MercadoLibre CBT will be able to communicate. Depending on the number of SKUs and the complexity of your inventory information, the amount of time it takes to process, communicate, and update on the marketplace could vary. Refer to the Marketplaces – Processing and Communication Frequency page for more information on this subject.

Manage Your Listings


Once you have activated your MercadoLibre CBT integration, you should begin seeing activity almost immediately. You may notice that some of your products have not listed properly or have not listed at all. It will be crucial that you consistently manage your MercadoLibre CBT account integration in ChannelAdvisor to monitor these issues.


MercadoLibre CBT Product Dashboard

ChannelAdvisor provides you with a dashboard that assists you with this effort. The MercadoLibre CBT Product Overview page is a marketplace-specific dashboard that provides you with an overview of the current status of all your products assigned to MercadoLibre CBT. You can access this page via the menu from Marketplaces > MercadoLibre CBT > Products > Overview.

Product Status View

The Product Status view will serve as your MercadoLibre CBT listing management headquarters. From this view you will be able to view detailed information about all of the products you are sending to MercadoLibre CBT. You will be able to monitor the performance of your items as well as troubleshoot any listing errors you may have received. Navigate to your Marketplaces > MercadoLibre CBT > Products > Product Status view.

Once an item is published to a site, the default link in the Product Status view is for MercadoLibre Brazil. If it is not listed on Brazil, then the link for MercadoLibre Mexico will display.
If you find the listing link does not display after 72 hours, listing status is listed and sync status is success, please contact cbt-support@mercadolibre.com for more information.

MercadoLibre CBT Translation Services

If you choose to use the MercadoLibre CBT translation service, it may take up to 48 hours for the process to complete. Once the translation is complete, the listings will be created on the MercadoLibre Marketplace.

Resolving MercadoLibre CBT Errors

There is a wide range of listing errors that you may receive when listing to MercadoLibre CBT. Resolving these errors can typically be accomplished by utilizing one of these two methods.

  • Method 1: Edit Your Template Mappings – The MercadoLibre CBT Template is what tells ChannelAdvisor what data to send. Failure to map the appropriate fields with the appropriate values from your inventory can result in listing errors. When you receive a listing error it is almost always a good idea to check your template.
  • Method 2: Edit Your Inventory Data – If you find the template appears to be mapped correctly and in accordance with MercadoLibre CBT's specifications, more than likely the source of the error is in your inventory data.

Fulfill/Cancel Orders


Sales are handled through the integrated shopping cart of each Marketplace. Order information details are then imported to ChannelAdvisor in the All Sales view where you can manage your fulfillment process, update shipping and tracking information and process any refunds or cancellations.


Importing Orders

From your All Sales view you can easily manage the fulfillment process for all orders imported from the marketplace. Whether you use ChannelAdvisor or a third party fulfillment system to manage your orders, ChannelAdvisor offers the tools to optimize your fulfillment strategy.

  1. After a purchase has been completed, the ChannelAdvisor Complete software will automatically import all the relevant order details needed for fulfillment. Orders will contain the shipping address of the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse as you won't ship the product directly to the buyer. See the Processing and Communication Frequency page for details on how long after a purchase orders are imported.
    • Please note: MercadoLibre CBT does not support combined shipping. If a buyer has completed multiple transactions, each order must be in its own shipment package.
  2. Once imported, your orders will appear in the Sales > Orders/Transactions > All Orders view alongside all of your other orders.

Order Details

MercadoLibre CBT generates their own order IDs and these will import into ChannelAdvisor as the Site Order ID. To help identify which MercadoLibre Marketplace site an order came from, each order id will have an ISO country prefix, for example, DBR, DMX.

To help retrieve order details for a buyer, sellers should utilize the Secondary Site Order ID field as this is the order ID on the specific MercadoLibre site.

All MercadoLibre CBT orders will come in with the shipping carrier "MELI CBT" and the shipping class "Standard". Buyers will not have the ability to select an expedited service. Therefore, to reduce the amount of time it takes for the buyer to receive his order, it is recommended that sellers ship their products within 5 business days to the MercadoLibre CBT logistics warehouse.

The shipping address section will contain the address of the US logistics warehouse where you should ship the package. The buyer address will be stored in the billing address section.

Customs Invoice Documentation

Be sure to include an invoice that contains the following details inside the shipping box:

  • Buyer Name
  • Product Title
  • Cost of Product in US Dollars
  • Cost of Domestic Shipping
  • Total Order Amount in US Dollars

Update Shipping and Tracking

After fulfillment is complete, your next step is to update the ChannelAdvisor Complete software with shipping and tracking information. Provide the carrier and tracking number used to ship products to the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse.
This step is highly important since you will not be paid for your sales until this information is received by MercadoLibre CBT. You do have the ability to send partial line item shipments to MercadoLibre CBT.

Once your tracking numbers are provided and your order status is updated to shipped ChannelAdvisor will send this information to the Marketplace. There are three primary methods to complete this process. Refer to the Updating Shipping and Tracking Information page for further details.

Once the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse ships the package internationally, MercadoLibre CBT will update the order details on the MercadoLibre Marketplaces with the international tracking number.

MercadoLibre CBT provides a shipment tracking URL located in the Privates Notes section of the order. This is also provided to the buyer. This can be used to track the status of the package from you to the final destination ( click here to see a screenshot of the tracking overview).

Sales Notifications

MercadoLibre Marketplaces will send a localized shipping notification to buyers once the order is marked shipped. It is recommended that you disable direct email notifications to buyers.

Cancelling and Refunding Orders

Cancelling and refunding orders is possible at different stages during the shipping cycle. You can find the shipping status of the order in the MercadoLibre CBT Tracking URL. You can process the cancellation by going to the Sales > Orders/Transactions > All Orders view.

MercadoLibre CBT allows only full order cancellations. Partial cancellations are not allowed.

MercadoLibre CBT suggests at a minimum the following refund policies and process be in place:

  • If a buyer receives a broken/damaged order: All packages shipped through MercadoLibre CBT are 100% insured. In the case of a broken item, buyer should contact seller, showing proof of damage, seller then contacts cbt-support@mercadolibre.com and MercadoLibre CBT will initiate the process with insurance company.
  • If a buyer experiences remorse: Buyer pays the cost of shipping back to the US. Buyer will get refunded product price + international shipping. Buyer will not be refunded taxes. Note that in Brazil, by law, buyers have up to 7 days to return items no questions asked.
  • If a buyer receives the wrong item or it was not as described: Seller shall replace the item and pay for international shipping and customs for the replacement. Buyer should not have to bear any costs for receiving a replacement.

  3. Country of Origin – Please enter the 2 letter ISO Country Code of the country where the product is manufactured, for example US for United States, CN for China.
  4. Is Translation Required – Enter True if your data needs to be translated into Spanish and Portuguese. Enter False if you will provide Portuguese and Spanish values for Title and Description.
  5. Description – You have to provide an English description. If you have Spanish or Portuguese description values, populate the Description-Spanish and Description-Portuguese fields as well.
    • Please note: MercadoLibre Marketplaces do not allow sellers to display contact information (email, phone, etc) within the listings. If it is included the listing will be blocked.
  6. Price – This is the product selling price in US Dollars.
    • Best Practice: It is important to remember that MercadoLibre CBT does not charge a ‘net of product price’ to Merchants. If you send a product price of $100, you will receive $100 if the product is sold. Since there are no seller fees on the product price, merchants are advised to lower the product price while keeping a healthy profit. This will make your products more competitive and will benefit buyers with lower duties/taxes and marketplace fees.
  7. Publish Sites – Sellers must enter the value of “BR, MX”. At this time, you cannot pick a specific site in this field. MercadoLibre CBT will list to all integrated sites.
  8. Title – This is the item name. You have to provide an English Title. If you have Spanish or Portuguese title values, use the Title-Spanish and Title-Portuguese fields. This field is limited to 60 characters.
  9. Brand and Model – Though the fields are optional, we highly encourage you to map these fields. When brand and model are passed to MercadoLibre CBT they won't be translated in the title. For example, if a title for a product contains "Apple", add it in a Brand attribute in your inventory and map that attribute to the Brand field in the template. If you don't provide any values for Brand and Model, MercadoLibre CBT might translate Apple into Maçã. The title might then read "Maçã iPhone 6...".
  10. Estimated Delivery Time – Enter how quickly you pick, pack and ship your items from your facilities to deliver to the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse. MercadoLibre CBT recommends that this value is a maximum of 5 days, as it takes an average of 10 days to get to the final destination from the US Logistics Warehouse.
  11. Shipping Cost – This is the domestic shipping cost for sending the package from your warehouse to the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse. MercadoLibre CBT uses this cost as part of the calculation of the price the buyer pays. It is suggested that you use a flat rate for domestic shipping cost, as MercadoLibre CBT, has more than one warehouse that it will be using.  
  12. Shipping From – Please enter the 2 letter ISO Country Code of the country the item will be shipped from, for example US for United States, CN for China.
  13. Package Dimensions – The package weight is required, however, providing the package length, width, height will assist MercadoLibre CBT with calculating a more accurate cost of international shipping that the buyer will pay as part of the price of the product.
  14. Image - At least one image is required. Allowed formats are jpg, gif or png. The size limit is 10 MB. You can send up to 6 images per product.
  15. Variation Attributes – If the selected category ID supports variation, you will need to populate all of the given attributes listed. In most cases, the attributes are color and size. To find a list of attributes and valid values for a specific category, click here .
  16. Specifications – You can send your own set of item specifics or attributes for your products which will be displayed in a table format on the listing. You will map the item specifications in the category-specific section of the MercadoLibre CBT template. You need to enter the attribute name and value in pairs in the following format "attribute name: attribute value". Samples would be "Color: Red", "Material: Cotton". If you want to enter more than one pair per Specification field, separate them by a ~. A sample would be "Color: Red~Material: Cotton~Size: M".

Activate Integration



Activate MercadoLibre CBT Integration

At this stage your account is ready to be activated to communicate and exchange data with the MercadoLibre CBT marketplace. First you will assign the label you selected in your MercadoLibre CBT settings to your designated inventory items. Next you'll activate the marketplace feed. Please navigate again to Marketplaces > MercadoLibre CBT > Settings to complete this step. View the Activating Your Marketplaces Integration page for more details.

Communication Frequency

Now that your MercadoLibre CBT integration has been activated, ChannelAdvisor and MercadoLibre CBT will be able to communicate. Depending on the number of SKUs and the complexity of your inventory information, the amount of time it takes to process, communicate, and update on the marketplace could vary. Refer to the Marketplaces – Processing and Communication Frequency page for more information on this subject.

Manage Your Listings


Once you have activated your MercadoLibre CBT integration, you should begin seeing activity almost immediately. You may notice that some of your products have not listed properly or have not listed at all. It will be crucial that you consistently manage your MercadoLibre CBT account integration in ChannelAdvisor to monitor these issues.


MercadoLibre CBT Product Dashboard

ChannelAdvisor provides you with a dashboard that assists you with this effort. The MercadoLibre CBT Product Overview page is a marketplace-specific dashboard that provides you with an overview of the current status of all your products assigned to MercadoLibre CBT. You can access this page via the menu from Marketplaces > MercadoLibre CBT > Products > Overview.

Product Status View

The Product Status view will serve as your MercadoLibre CBT listing management headquarters. From this view you will be able to view detailed information about all of the products you are sending to MercadoLibre CBT. You will be able to monitor the performance of your items as well as troubleshoot any listing errors you may have received. Navigate to your Marketplaces > MercadoLibre CBT > Products > Product Status view.

Once an item is published to a site, the default link in the Product Status view is for MercadoLibre Brazil. If it is not listed on Brazil, then the link for MercadoLibre Mexico will display.
If you find the listing link does not display after 72 hours, listing status is listed and sync status is success, please contact cbt-support@mercadolibre.com for more information.

MercadoLibre CBT Translation Services

If you choose to use the MercadoLibre CBT translation service, it may take up to 48 hours for the process to complete. Once the translation is complete, the listings will be created on the MercadoLibre Marketplace.

Resolving MercadoLibre CBT Errors

There is a wide range of listing errors that you may receive when listing to MercadoLibre CBT. Resolving these errors can typically be accomplished by utilizing one of these two methods.

  • Method 1: Edit Your Template Mappings – The MercadoLibre CBT Template is what tells ChannelAdvisor what data to send. Failure to map the appropriate fields with the appropriate values from your inventory can result in listing errors. When you receive a listing error it is almost always a good idea to check your template.
  • Method 2: Edit Your Inventory Data – If you find the template appears to be mapped correctly and in accordance with MercadoLibre CBT's specifications, more than likely the source of the error is in your inventory data.

Fulfill/Cancel Orders


Sales are handled through the integrated shopping cart of each Marketplace. Order information details are then imported to ChannelAdvisor in the All Sales view where you can manage your fulfillment process, update shipping and tracking information and process any refunds or cancellations.


Importing Orders

From your All Sales view you can easily manage the fulfillment process for all orders imported from the marketplace. Whether you use ChannelAdvisor or a third party fulfillment system to manage your orders, ChannelAdvisor offers the tools to optimize your fulfillment strategy.

  1. After a purchase has been completed, the ChannelAdvisor Complete software will automatically import all the relevant order details needed for fulfillment. Orders will contain the shipping address of the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse as you won't ship the product directly to the buyer. See the Processing and Communication Frequency page for details on how long after a purchase orders are imported.
    • Please note: MercadoLibre CBT does not support combined shipping. If a buyer has completed multiple transactions, each order must be in its own shipment package.
  2. Once imported, your orders will appear in the Sales > Orders/Transactions > All Orders view alongside all of your other orders.

Order Details

MercadoLibre CBT generates their own order IDs and these will import into ChannelAdvisor as the Site Order ID. To help identify which MercadoLibre Marketplace site an order came from, each order id will have an ISO country prefix, for example, DBR, DMX.

To help retrieve order details for a buyer, sellers should utilize the Secondary Site Order ID field as this is the order ID on the specific MercadoLibre site.

All MercadoLibre CBT orders will come in with the shipping carrier "MELI CBT" and the shipping class "Standard". Buyers will not have the ability to select an expedited service. Therefore, to reduce the amount of time it takes for the buyer to receive his order, it is recommended that sellers ship their products within 5 business days to the MercadoLibre CBT logistics warehouse.

The shipping address section will contain the address of the US logistics warehouse where you should ship the package. The buyer address will be stored in the billing address section.

Customs Invoice Documentation

Be sure to include an invoice that contains the following details inside the shipping box:

  • Buyer Name
  • Product Title
  • Cost of Product in US Dollars
  • Cost of Domestic Shipping
  • Total Order Amount in US Dollars

Update Shipping and Tracking

After fulfillment is complete, your next step is to update the ChannelAdvisor Complete software with shipping and tracking information. Provide the carrier and tracking number used to ship products to the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse.
This step is highly important since you will not be paid for your sales until this information is received by MercadoLibre CBT. You do have the ability to send partial line item shipments to MercadoLibre CBT.

Once your tracking numbers are provided and your order status is updated to shipped ChannelAdvisor will send this information to the Marketplace. There are three primary methods to complete this process. Refer to the Updating Shipping and Tracking Information page for further details.

Once the MercadoLibre CBT warehouse ships the package internationally, MercadoLibre CBT will update the order details on the MercadoLibre Marketplaces with the international tracking number.

MercadoLibre CBT provides a shipment tracking URL located in the Privates Notes section of the order. This is also provided to the buyer. This can be used to track the status of the package from you to the final destination ( click here to see a screenshot of the tracking overview).

Sales Notifications

MercadoLibre Marketplaces will send a localized shipping notification to buyers once the order is marked shipped. It is recommended that you disable direct email notifications to buyers.

Cancelling and Refunding Orders

Cancelling and refunding orders is possible at different stages during the shipping cycle. You can find the shipping status of the order in the MercadoLibre CBT Tracking URL. You can process the cancellation by going to the Sales > Orders/Transactions > All Orders view.

MercadoLibre CBT allows only full order cancellations. Partial cancellations are not allowed.

MercadoLibre CBT suggests at a minimum the following refund policies and process be in place:

  • If a buyer receives a broken/damaged order: All packages shipped through MercadoLibre CBT are 100% insured. In the case of a broken item, buyer should contact seller, showing proof of damage, seller then contacts cbt-support@mercadolibre.com and MercadoLibre CBT will initiate the process with insurance company.
  • If a buyer experiences remorse: Buyer pays the cost of shipping back to the US. Buyer will get refunded product price + international shipping. Buyer will not be refunded taxes. Note that in Brazil, by law, buyers have up to 7 days to return items no questions asked.
  • If a buyer receives the wrong item or it was not as described: Seller shall replace the item and pay for international shipping and customs for the replacement. Buyer should not have to bear any costs for receiving a replacement.
