How To

Amazon Seller Central Authorization

ChannelAdvisor uses two methods to communicate with your Amazon Seller Central account. The first is the API authorization, which handles product and order feeds. The second is the Seller Central user credentials authorization, which handles your account health, Buy Box Percentage and Buy Box insights data, displayed on the Amazon 360 Dashboard in your ChannelAdvisor account.

To authorize the Seller Central User, please complete the two step process to authorize ChannelAdvisor as a secondary user in your Seller Central account to take full advantage of the range of Amazon features in ChannelAdvisor. This is not required to communicate product or order data with Amazon.

  1. Step 1: Invite the ChannelAdvisor user email listing in your ChannelAdvisor account under Marketplaces > Amazon > Settings > Amazon Settings.
    • Open the Marketplaces Account Information section to locate the user email.
    • Wait for ChannelAdvisor to accept the invite. This can take 60 minutes or more to process.
  2. Step 2: Complete the permissions setup in Seller Central for the new user.

Amazon API authorization must occur prior to Seller Central authorization. If you have not completed API authorization, you will see the following message:

API Authorization Status must be complete before Seller Central Authorization may be started

After API authorization is completed, you are ready to begin the two step process for authorizing ChannelAdvisor to communicate with your Amazon Seller Central account.

Step 1:

Begin by logging into Seller Central and navigating to Settings > User Permissions. Here, you will send a new user invitation to the email address that is indicated on the settings page. After the invitation is sent, we will begin the process of creating the user, which can take up to 60 minutes. Once the user is accepted by ChannelAdvisor, you will be able to begin step two.

Step 2:

When the new user has been created, confirm the user in Seller Central and set the user permissions. Login to Seller Central and go to Settings > User Permissions. Here you will confirm the new user. Once the user has been confirmed you will set user permissions to "View & Edit" (or "View" where "View & Edit" is not available) for all permission types EXCEPT: Settings > Agreements/Amendments and Settings > User Permissions. For these two categories, set the user permissions to "None". This helps ensure the security of your account.

What if I am not able to complete these steps?

Note that an error or failure to complete these steps will NOT negatively affect your Amazon feeds or order import.

If ChannelAdvisor is unable to complete the user acceptance, the below message will be displayed in the Amazon Settings page under Marketplace Account Information.

The same message will be shown, if User Permissions are set incorrectly. In this case, ChannelAdvisor may not have access to the appropriate data required to fuel various features.

If you see this error message, please review your configurations in Seller Central. If everything looks correct and you can't find the root cause, please open a ChannelAdvisor Support case for assistance.
