Tesco has opened a marketplace to offer its shoppers a wider range of products and brands than ever before, all in one place. Is selling on Tesco a Good Fit? 


If you are considering selling on the Tesco marketplace please be aware of these important requirements:

  1. Tesco is an invite-only marketplace – This opportunity may not be a fit for all sellers and ChannelAdvisor cannot guarantee acceptance to the Tesco marketplace. To find out if your brand is the right fit, please reach out to your Account Manager or your sales representative. 
  2. EAN or UPC is required as product identifier – You can only sell items on Tesco if you provide an EAN or UPC as the unique product identifier with the product feed.
  3. Products must be listed in GBP – All listings on Tesco must be listed in GBP. You will also be paid by Tesco in GBP.
  4. Images need to be 500 x 500 pixels at minimum – Your images have to have a minimum size of 500 x 500 pixel and file size no larger than 1MB.

 

How Does ChannelAdvisor Work with Tesco?


  • Upload Your Inventory to ChannelAdvisor – Regardless of where you maintain your inventory, you will need to keep a record of your products within the ChannelAdvisor application. ChannelAdvisor offers a variety of options based on what works best for your company. To learn more about getting your Inventory into ChannelAdvisor please refer to the Inventory Getting Started Guide .
     
  • Map Your Inventory to Tesco's Format – Tesco, like other marketplaces, has a particular format they require sellers to conform to. ChannelAdvisor has made the process of mapping your inventory information to Tesco's product fields simple by providing a template to communicate your inventory data in the preferred format to Tesco.
     
  • ChannelAdvisor Sends Your Listings to Tesco – Once you have completed your inventory mapping you are ready to list products on Tesco. You will activate your integration between ChannelAdvisor and Tesco and we will begin sending files to Tesco with your product details and quantity.
     
  • Customers Purchase Your Products on Tesco – Now that your products are showing on the Tesco marketplace, you should start to see sales almost immediately.
     
  • Orders Are Imported into ChannelAdvisor – ChannelAdvisor will retrieve each order and acknowledge it on your behalf. Your orders will then be available in the ChannelAdvisor software to fulfill.
     
  • ChannelAdvisor Notifies Tesco that Item Ships – After you have fulfilled an order (or issued a refund), ChannelAdvisor notifies Tesco on your behalf. This will mark the order as shipped on the Tesco site.

 

How Do I Get Started?


At the moment, Tesco is an invitation only marketplace, but ChannelAdvisor can help approved sellers along the way with the process of getting started there. Begin by following these steps:

  1. Contact your ChannelAdvisor representative or Customer Support to request to become a Tesco partner.
  2. If you don't already have one, request from ChannelAdvisor support a UK posting account .
