How To

Common Tesco Errors

When listing to Tesco it is possible that you encounter listing errors. The table below outlines the common ones and provides a solution to fix the error and ensure the affected product is listed successfully on the marketplace.

Prerequisites

You should be familiar with the following task before continuing:

Error Message Suggested Resolution
Field X is required

Where you see an error or message which begins with “Field ...” this is a message from ChannelAdvisor. It means that either you have not mapped a required field on the template (denoted by the red asterisk) or that the lookup list / business rule used yielded no results.

You should check the mapping on your template to ensure that 1) it is mapped and 2) that the field it is mapped to contains data for all your SKUs or that that business rule / lookup list being used does not have a resulting blank output.

Error from Tesco: An error occurred on a related item.

Error is telling you that one of the sibling SKUs has an error from Tesco.

You should check the other child SKUs from the same parent. One of those SKUs will be showing an error against it. Once you resolve that error, the other child SKUs will be processed by Tesco in the next product feed. Check the Communication Frequency page for more details on feed timings.

Error from Tesco: [ProductUpdate] Error: Bad Request [TFI-PRD-PIS-003]. MerchantskuId: 12345 is already associated with different GtinId. Please update your feed with the correct GtinId/MerchantskuIds combination and resubmit.

As a seller you can not change the EAN once the product has been inducted onto Tesco.

You can either:

  1. Check the EAN stored on your product. If this is not correct, update it. If you believe the EAN you hold is correct, move on to option 2.
  2. Raise a support case with ChannelAdvisor with the SKU & EAN details that are correct for the products affected. ChannelAdvisor will liaise with Tesco to have this data corrected.
Error from Tesco: [ProductUpdate] Error: [PIM][PIU1280] Product exists in PIM under different Item Catalog Category

This means that Tesco recognises the EAN/GTIN you are submitting but that that product currently sits in a different category than the one you supplied.

First check that the category you have mapped on your template makes sense.

If it does and you believe that is where the product should sit, then you should raise a support case with ChannelAdvisor providing us with a list of the SKUs affected.

ChannelAdvisor support will liaise with Tesco to retrieve the name of the category that is stored at Tesco. We will share this with you. From here you have two options:

  1. Agree with Tesco that the product should actually be listed in the category they have provided. In which case you should adjust the mapping on your Tesco Template to reflect that. Upon the next successful product feed to Tesco, this error should then clear. Check the Communication Frequency page for more details.
  2. Decide that the category that Tesco has provided is not suitable to your products. In which case you should provide ChannelAdvisor Support a list of the SKUs, EANs and the category you suggest. We will then liaise with Tesco to request that the products be moved to a new category.
Please note: Not all requests will be accepted, ChannelAdvisor Support will keep you informed of all updates from Tesco.
Error from Tesco: [ProductUpdate] Error: Invalid value for some valueset attributes: Attribute: X value: Y;Error: [PIM][PIU1420]Values for some of the mandatory attributes for Template "PIEU or PIU" are missing....

We recommend that sellers raise a support ticket with ChannelAdvisor support to allow our team to check with Tesco on this error. Updates we receive from Tesco will be communicated back to you.

Error from Tesco: [MediaUpdate] GtinId = 123456789123; Error: Internal Server Error [DOWNLOAD-017]. Please contact your integration manager

We can receive this intermittently when Tesco’s image servers are busy. If this is the first time you are seeing this error, it is recommended that you wait until the next successful feed to Tesco before proceeding further. Check the Communication Frequency page for more details on feed timings.

If you have seen this error for more than a day or two, it could also mean that the image you are trying to send to Tesco is not being accepted due to missing required information. Tesco requires that all images submitted contain the RGB code. You should check the image properties and rectify this.

If, after the next successful feed to Tesco, you are still seeing this error, we recommend that you raise a support case with ChannelAdvisor which will allow our team to look into this and liaise with Tesco on your behalf.

Error from Tesco: [MediaUpdate] GtinId = 1234567891234; Error: [CMS][CMSMAI133] The image image.jpg doesn't comply with the agreed style guide. The correct image dimensions should be between 500 x 500 and 2000 x 2000.

This is an error from Tesco stating that the submitted image does not comply with either its minimum or maximum size.

You can proceed in 1 of 2 ways:

  1. If, after checking the image, it does not comply, you will need to supply an image for this product that does fit Tesco’s requirements.
  2. If you have checked the image details and believe it does comply with their requirements, please raise a support case with ChannelAdvisor who will be able to liaise with Tesco’s technical support to resolve this error.
Error from Tesco: [MediaUpdate] GtinId = 5060396280696; Error: Bad Request [DOWNLOAD-010]. Max File size validation Failed.

This means that, whilst validating the image you have supplied, Tesco found the image file to be too large according to their requirements. You should provide an image whose file size is within the requirements (saving for web is how most sellers achieve this).
