Message Center

The Message Center is THE single location where you are able to determine if there are any issues that need to be addressed with your account. Easily view and interact with errors, warnings and system messages all in one single location inside ChannelAdvisor Complete.

Getting Started with the Message Center


To get started with the message center, you must navigate to My Account section of the navigation, specifically My Account > Messages > Message Center view.

Below are some of the tasks and features available in this view:

 

Message Summary Bar


Working in conjunction with the Message Center, the Message Summary bar will display a roll up, notifying you of the number of errors, warnings and system messages for your account. The numbers indicated represent all of the messages of that given type that have a status of "open" or "in progress" as well as not being marked as "read". Once a message is deleted, it will be removed from this summary.

Account Messages Widget


Another supplementary addition to the Message Center is the Account Messages widget located on the dashboards throughout the application. This widget displays the date and time, title and message type for the last 5 messages for your account. Clicking on the message will bring you to the Message Center where you'll be able to interact with that message and all of your messages. The Home dashboard features a roll up of all messages, displaying your last five across the entire application. The Account Messages widget located on the dashboards for Marketplaces, Paid Search and Comparison Shopping show messages specific for those sections of the application.

Expand and Collapse Messages


To expand and collapse messages in the Message Center follow these steps:

  1. For individual messages:

    • Locate the "Message" column in the view.
    • For collapsed messages, click the [+] Expand link to view the message details and any associated notes.
    • For expanded messages, click the [-] Collapse link to hide the message details and notes.
  2. For bulk messages:

    • Locate and select each checkbox for your desired messages.
    • Click the "Expand All" button in the toolbar to view message details and notes for ALL messages.
    • Click the "Collapse All" button in the toolbar to hide message details and notes for ALL messages.

 

Set Status


To set the status of a message follow these steps:

  1. Locate the "Status" column for your desired message.
  2. New messages are defaulted with the status of "OPEN".
  3. To change this status, simply click on this link text.
  4. The status will change to a dropdown list, allowing you to select your new desired status.
  5. Once selected, the new status will switch back to a text link, allowing you to repeat the process if desired.
Please Note: Use this status setting to notify co-workers if you are working on a message and/or if the message has been closed and there is no need to interact with it.

 

Add and Edit Notes


Similar to setting the status of a message, notes help to remind you of your progress and notify co-workers. To add and edit notes follow these steps:

  1. Locate the "Actions" column for your desired message.
  2. Click the "Add Note" link.
  3. A modal dialog window will display featuring a "Message Note" text area.
  4. Fill in your desired message and click "Submit".
  5. You may also click "Cancel" to return to the Message Center.
  6. Once added, the Note will display below the message details for your desired message.
  7. You may edit this message by clicking the "Edit" link located next to your message.
  8. This will display the modal dialog window with your existing message pre-filled. You may edit this message and click "Submit".

Mark as Read


To mark a message as read follow these steps:

  1. Locate the "Actions" column for your desired message.
  2. Click the "Mark As Read" link.
  3. For bulk messages, select the check box for each desired message and click the "Mark Ad Read" button in the toolbar.
  4. Your desired message will now appear grayed out in the Message Center, however it will still be counted in the Message Summary Bar.
  5. Marking a message as read adds a visual indication that the message has been read and/or handled to all users having access to your account. This allows users to read the messages if desired, however they also know immediately that the issue has had an additional level of interaction.

Delete Messages


To delete a message follow these steps:

  1. Locate the "Actions" column for your desired message.
  2. Click the "Delete" link.
  3. For bulk deletion, select the check box for each desired message and click the "Delete" button in the toolbar.
  4. You will receive a message asking you to confirm deletion.
  5. Click "OK" to continue or "Cancel" to return to the Message Center without deleting.
  6. Deleting messages will permanently remove them from the Message Center and the Message Summary Bar.
