How To

Users

ChannelAdvisor allows you to manage the access level for each individual user in your organization. This helps to increase account security by creating unique logins for each individual user.

Prerequisites

You should be familiar with the following topic:

Getting Started with Users

To get started managing Users, you must navigate to the My Account > Permissions > Manage Users view. You will be able to accomplish the following from this view:

Create Users

To create a user follow these steps:

  1. Click the Create a New User link located towards the top of the page.
  2. On the next screen, select the Client from the dropdown menu. There will only be one option unless you have multiple accounts.
  3. Fill in all of the required information indicated by the * symbol. You may elect to fill in all fields if desired.
  4. The Correspondence Email is a new addition. Should you create users that do not have access to email, you may set the correspondence email to a functional email address of your choosing, an example being the administrator's email address. This will route all future correspondence emails for this user to this email, which may be different from their login.

Please Note: You are required to use a valid correspondence email in order to reset the user's password if forgotten, as an email will be sent containing a password reset link.

  5. Checking the Reset Password On Next Login checkbox, will prompt the user to change their password when they login. This step can be skipped over, however each time a user logs in, they will be prompted until they change the password. This comes in handy when creating new users, as you can add a number of users with a similar password and have the software prompt the user to create a new, more unique password.
  6. Checkmark "Invoice Access" if you want this user to be able to access the Invoices and Payments feature.  Users with this permission may view invoices and input payment information.
  7. You can quickly set the permissions for each user with equal access to that of yourself by selecting same as me in the Permissions field.
  8. Selecting Custom in the permissions field will show all of your existing groups. You can assign any or all desired groups to this user.
  9. Should you not see a group you require, you can click the Create a New Group link where you can create new groups that will then list in this section.
  10. For more information on Creating and Managing groups click here .
  11. Once completed, click the Next button to proceed.
  12. You will see a success message notifying you that the user was created.
  13. You can Add Another User by clicking the button with the same phrase, or click the Next button to proceed to the summary.
  14. Once finished, click Save User.
  15. You will now be taken back to the Manage Users view.

A user may reset their own password by visiting https://login.ChannelAdvisor.com and logging in. Once logged in, a Reset Password option will be visible.
