How To

Negative Keyword Suggestions

The Negative Keyword Suggestions report provides you with suggested negative keywords. The search queries provided are the top cost queries on Google from the past 30 days where we have recorded more cost than revenue. The queries apply to both Keywords and Product Listing Ads. In some cases, Google does not provide the search query in a way that we can match it with revenue data and therefore some queries may under-report revenue. You can add a query as a negative keyword by clicking the "Create Negative" link and filling out the required information. New search queries will appear each day to replace queries that are acted upon. The report removes queries that identically match to keywords in your account, as well as existing negative keywords that match your account negatives exactly.

Cost and revenue reported are based on that search query and the keyword that it was matched to from your account. For this reason, the same search query will appear multiple times in the report if the same query was matched to multiple keywords in your account. Again, in some situations, Google does not pass back the search query with our other tracking information and therefore some queries that are actually profitable may appear on this report. It is always important to use knowledge of your business and instinct when restricting queries.

This view also includes queries that triggered Product Listing Ads. View these queries by selecting the Google Shopping option from the Provider drop down.
