These dashboards can be customized similar to other dashboards within the platform along with these specific customization options:

  1. In the upper right-hand corner, you can configure the date range that will be applied to all of the widgets. Specific widgets have special conditions on the date range, please look to the widget section for more information.

  2. In each widget, you have the ability to select which ChannelAdvisor accounts to be included. Limiting to one account can help isolate the performance of a specific account or geography while including all your accounts can help see an overall view of performance.

  3. Within some of the widgets, you have the ability to select the Normalize Outliers or Show Outliers option. When comparing multiple data sources in a chart like this, the results are often at very different scales resulting in a less than useful chart. For this reason, there is an option to Normalize Outliers which will cap the line and indicate with an arrow where the chart was limited to preserve usability. To turn off this option just change the drop down to Show Outliers.

Frequently Asked Questions about ChannelAdvisor Benchmarks

Q: How quickly is data available in all widgets?

A: Previous month’s data will be added to the benchmarks dashboards around the 15th of the month.

Q: Why do I sometimes see missing data or gaps in the charts?

A: This can occur for two reasons. The first is we have insufficient data to make comparisons. The second reason is that when we evaluate all our data to determine competitors we only create a peer group if we have sufficient data to aggregate. In some cases, there is insufficient data to create a valid peer group so we exclude these amounts.

Q: How do you determine my competitors?

A: Competitors represent the aggregate distribution of competitors selling or advertising in overlapping categories with you across the selected marketplaces. If there is insufficient data to create a competitive benchmark group then no data is shown.

Q: What currency is used in the calculations?

A: All amounts are calculated using a common currency of USD.

Q: How can I see a specific data points value?

A: If you hover your mouse over the data point, a pop-up will display the actual value.

Q: How can I alter the placement and size of the widgets?

A: You can click on the Change Layout button in the toolbar in the upper right-hand corner. This will allow you to change the size of your widgets. Placing your mouse over the widget title bar, you will be able to click ‘n‘ drag your widget to the desired location.

Q: Within the Marketplaces Benchmarks, what does the Normalize Outliers or Show Outliers widget options control?

A: When comparing multiple data sources in a chart like this the results are often at very different scales resulting in a less than useful chart. For this reason, there is an option to Normalize Outliers which will cap the line and indicate with an arrow where the chart was limited to preserve usability. To turn off this option just change the drop down to Show Outliers.

Q: Within the Marketplaces Benchmarks, what does the “exclamation point up arrow” icon mean on some of the widget graphs?

A: In a widget, if you have selected the Normalize Outliers option then limitations are placed on the vertical axis to allow for a more readable graph. The icon states that the particular data point is beyond the graphs dimensions. By hovering over the icon, you will be able to see that actual value for that data point.
