Working with Ad Groups

Ad Groups are groups of keywords, ads and bids that you have defined within the interface for search engine providers. Please follow the steps below to create new Ad Groups, edit existing Ad Groups and upload Ads in bulk to a campaign.

The following tasks are used to manage Ad Groups.

How to Create Ad Groups

To setup an Ad Group, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Campaigns > Ad Groups.
  2. Click on New Ad Group.
  3. Select Provider, Account, and Campaign from the drop-down menus.
  4. Enter the Ad Group name.
  5. Enter the Max CPC (maximum cost per click).
  6. Click Save.

How to Edit Ad Groups

To edit an Ad Group, follow the steps below:

  1. Select Campaign > Ad Groups to see a list of all Ad Groups across providers.   Optionally, you can click Filter to narrow the list of ad groups displayed.
  2. Click Edit to change the Status and Max CPC fields in the first column for the campaign you wish to manage.
    • Change the Status of the category. You might change the status for seasonal sales for active to inactive and then inactive to active. Change the status to delete or to remove the Ad Group.
    • Change the Max CPC of the Ad Group.
  3. Click Save.

How to Upload Ads in Bulk

To upload ads in bulk, follow the steps below:

  1. Create a spreadsheet with your data by doing the following:
    • Select Campaign Manager > Manage Categories > Bulk Upload .
    • Click upload template.
    • Save the template.
    • Open the new template file by right clicking and choosing open with MS Excel.
    • Populate the spreadsheet with your data.
      1. The spreadsheet must have nine columns labeled Campaign ID, Category, Max CPC, Headline, Description Line 1, Description Line 2, Display URL and Destination URL.
      2. Changing the order of the columns or deleting a column will cause the Bulk Upload not to complete.
      3. You can add multiple categories for a single Campaign ID.
      4. If you are adding multiple creative for a single Category, they must be sequential.
    • Save the spreadsheet as a text (tab delimited .txt) file with your data.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Select the file format using either a tab delimited file that was created using MS Excel or another program
    • Browse for the spreadsheet.
