eBay Picture Services allows a seller to provide multiple images that are shown to the buyer at the top of the eBay product page instead of requiring the buyer to scroll down the page to the description section. It also allows for zoom and enlarge options, all of which are only available when using the eBay picture hosting solutions.
Before using any of these additional picture services, validate any additional fees to you will be charged for the listings. Specifically check for the Picture Pack option, which gives the most features like Zoom, Enlarge, and a discount over the individual image pricing and is always used by ChannelAdvisor when multiple images are submitted to eBay. While some of these options are free in certain countries, other countries charge a significant fee to use them.

Configuring Images for your eBay Picture URLs
All processing is automatic for you when multiple images have been configured on the eBay posting template .
- Configure the images in the Product Images (new Posting Templates) or Picture URLs (legacy Posting Templates) sections as shown here:
Product Image section in new Posting Template
Picture URLs section in legacy Posting Template
Up to 12 images may be submitted.
To see all 12 URL fields in the legacy Posting Template, click on the Show additional image fields link:
- Each field is an additional image that will be submitted to eBay when the items are listed. If three items are configured on the inventory item in the fields ITEMIMAGEURL1, ITEMIMAGEURL2, and ITEMIMAGEURL3 that you would like to use, you would configure the posting template like this:
Field mapping in new Posting Template
Adding image values in legacy Posting Template
- When listings using this posting template are submitted to eBay, they will initially be submitted with the first image. Soon thereafter we will attempt to upload the remaining images to eBay and add them to the listing. This allows your items to be listed quickly and the slow process of image upload to be completed in the background. If for any reason the images cannot be uploaded to eBay then the original listing will still have the primary image for the items. When the images are uploaded to eBay, they will all be included in the image box at the upper left of the listing, like this:
- If you want to use additional picture service like Gallery or the Picture / Value Pack option click on Selling Preferences in the left-hand menu (new Posting Template) and map the desired fields.
Buyers may select from the image chooser to see the detail on individual images, and use the Zoom and Enlarge features if the original pictures were of sufficient quality and size to use those options. For more information about image sizes, see the eBay Picture Pack details. In general a larger picture allows for more detail to be shown in the Zoom and Enlarge options.
| Question || Answer |
How much does it cost?
The fees vary by site. Some countries provide 12 images and the picture pack option for free while others have a substantial additional charge for those additional images. Review the fee information for each eBay country where you list items to see the fees for that site. Many of those countries are linked above.
I don't want to pay additional fees. How can I prevent that?
If you do not configure additional images, no images will be uploaded to eBay and no fees will be incurred. You should still use the first image (which is free in all countries) and leave all of the remaining fields blank.
I do not use ChannelAdvisor image hosting but instead host the images on my own server. Is that a problem?
No. Images can be hosted anywhere online and be used with this feature. Make sure that the web server is online and available because eBay will need to see the image to process it for their systems. If it is not available when they go to process it then they will be unable to use that image with the listing.
Does this work for variation listings ?
Yes. If there are multiple images for the child options then each child option will also be submitted with multiple images. These are grouped together on the eBay listing so that the buyer can see the assortment of images for each child option.
Can I choose to use this feature on only some of my listings?
Yes. If you want to use it for an item, configure the posting template to use images configured on that inventory item. For those where you do not want to use this feature, either use a posting template with only one image configured or make sure there is no image configured on the inventory item for the additional fields. If there is no image configured on the inventory item then there will be no additional image submitted.
Why does my listing say "Zoom Unavailable"?
eBay requires the images to be at least 800 pixels for the zoom functionality to be enabled. They recommend 1600 pixels or larger , and smaller images will not have the zoom option available. If some images are larger enough for zoom and others are not, the zoom option will only be available on the larger images.
