Shipping Discount Profiles can be  configured in your eBay account  to give buyers a reduction in the shipping charges when purchasing multiple items. These profiles can be configured to give a fixed amount or percentage discount on the combined shipping across all items for both flat and calculated shipping rates.  Once configured in your eBay account, the profiles are easily configured on your posting template and used when your items are submitted to eBay. Buyers are advised of the potential of a discount on shipping for purchasing multiple items and the reduction is calculated automatically in the eBay Checkout.

Create Your Shipping Profiles in eBay

Shipping Discount Profiles must be created in your eBay account before they can be applied to your listings. For detailed step-by-step instructions on this process visit the eBay help information page.  Profiles may be created in eBay for Flat shipping, Calculated shipping or combination of flat and combined shipping  

You may want to create multiple profiles if you have different discount rates for domestic and international buyers.  To create multiple profiles just select the option at eBay to add additional profiles when configuring the discount rates.  You may want to name the profiles to keep track of their purpose.  Note that profiles configured for a specific shipping type will only be applied if the same shipping type is the one offered to buyers.    Profiles may be configured in eBay to apply several different types of rules.  

• Flat Shipping Profiles   - you can either add specific fixed amounts or percentages for additional items or subtract a discount amount or percentage from the additional item rates specified on the individual eBay listing.   
  
  Example:    If you would like to give a $2 discount for each additional line item purchased beyond the first, just configure a flat rate rule to "subtract an amount from each additional item" in "dollars" and then enter "2" for the amount to be subtracted. If you would instead like to give a 25% reduction for additional items, just select "percentage" instead of "dollars" and enter "25" for the amount. 

• Calculated Shipping Profiles   - Combines the weights of all items in the order instead of calculating the rate for each item individually.  A fixed weight amount can also be subtracted from that combined weight to discount the rate further.

Once the profiles have been created at eBay for your shipping methods, make note of the ID number for your shipping profile.  If you have created multiple discount profiles, note the different numbers for each profile.   

Note:   Profiles must be configured for each eBay country where you will be listing items as a seller. Profiles configured in one eBay country cannot be used for listings submitted to another eBay country.  For example, profiles configured on eBay US cannot be used for new listings created on eBay UK even when using the same eBay seller ID.  The US listings are available as international purchases for UK buyers, but if listing items in GBP on eBay UK new profiles will have to be created on ebay.co.uk and used in the posting templates for listings to eBay UK.

 

Assigning Shipping Discount Profiles to New and Existing eBay Listings

Once a Shipping Discount Profile has been configured at eBay, it can easily be configured on the posting templates to apply to all items using that posting template. If you want to have different shipping discount profiles for different groups of items, just configure one posting template for each shipping discount profile.  (For advanced users, you can also configure the shipping discount profile as a replacement tag and import that value from the inventory item.)  Use the profile ID number collected from eBay and configure it in the Shipping Discount Profile ID value on the posting template in the shipping section:  Complete the following steps related to this task:

1. Navigate to  Marketplaces > eBay > Product Mapping > Posting Templates
2. Select the  Site Details  link for an existing posting template
3. Locate the  Selling Preferences > Shipping Cost  section of the posting template
4. In the  Domestic Shipping Discount Profile ID  or the  International Shipping Discount Profile ID  fields enter the profile ID configured on your eBay account. Here are some sample calculations for shipping.
5. Save your changes

Once configured on the posting template, all new listings using this posting template will be associated with the configured shipping discount profile.  Modifying or deleting the profile at eBay will affect all of the open listings using that profile, so be very careful when making changes to existing shipping discount profile information at eBay.

 

Updating Existing Listings with a Shipping Discount Profile

If you have existing open listings that need to have a shipping discount profile assigned or changed, you can use the  Revise Open Listings  process to add, change, or remove a shipping discount profile from open eBay listings.  To add or change a shipping discount profile, just enter the new value on the posting template following the steps above.  If you would like to remove a shipping discount profile, just submit to update the shipping information and leave the field blank.

Note:  Revising the shipping requires ALL of the shipping information to be resubmitted.  Individual fields cannot be changed, so if you want to add, change or remove the shipping discount profile you will also need to resubmit the other elements in the Shipping section to revise the open listings.
