How To

Using the Newegg International Shipping Program

Shipping internationally adds a substantial complexity to any business. To help address this, Newegg has added a new International Shipping Program for sellers on the US site allowing sellers to ship domestically but ultimately deliver items to international buyers. This can make international expansion and cross-border trade much easier to implement. For a seller that has never sold internationally, this can be a great way to expand your business and bring in new customers without substantial changes to your existing shipping processes.

Background

The Newegg International Shipping Program was added in Spring of 2015 to help US-based sellers deliver packages to international buyers. Because of the complexity of international shipping requirements including address format and customs forms, many sellers were unable to support international buyers. Through the International Shipping Program, Newegg and their partners can offload those additional tasks for international shipping and allow the seller to focus on their existing domestic shipping processes. Newegg and their partners then take the shipment to complete the international leg of the delivery to the recipient, completing all of the appropriate forms and customs payments for delivery. As part of this program the buyer includes payment for the customs duties as part of the checkout process, so there is no additional surprise charge when the items arrive. Both the domestic and international leg of the shipment are tracked as part of the transaction, with tracking information available to the buyer and seller in the Newegg transaction details.

Listing Items with International Shipping

The International Shipping program is very easy to implement:

  1. First, be sure to select the International Shipping option from your Newegg Seller Portal.
  2. Next, in ChannelAdvisor, just select the International Shipping option in your Newegg Settings (Marketplaces > Newegg > Settings > Newegg Settings) and items will be listed with the International Shipping option if they are approved for the International Shipping program.

Before you do this the first time you must go to your Newegg Seller Portal and accept the terms for the International Shipping Program and enable your account for International Shipping-enabled listings.

Once enabled in your Newegg settings, you can then specify the selling price per country on the Common Product Mapping Template (Marketplaces > Newegg > Product Mapping > Template).

Once enabled at Newegg and on your Product Mapping Template, new listings will automatically be listed with the International Shipping option enabled. International Shipping is not required, but can be provided if desired. If international shipping is provided, then it will be used in conjunction with the International Shipping countries to determine the destinations supported for shipping.

Purchasing Items with International Shipping

When an item has been listed with International Shipping and has been approved for the program, then buyers from the Newegg International approved countries are allowed to purchase the item. If an international buyer purchases a Newegg International listing, they proceed through the standard checkout and payment process. They provide their final destination address and Newegg calculates a combined domestic and international shipping rate along with custom duties to give the buyer the total for payment. This is done transparently to the buyer and is automatically included in the checkout process. The buyer's payment is split between the seller (for the item and domestic shipping charges) and the Newegg International system (for the international shipping and custom duty charges).

You can arrange multiple fulfillment centers for certain countries you'd like to ship to. Sellers will configure their Distribution Centers and assign one or more DC's to a Newegg DC priority (Inventory > Settings > Distribution Centers).

After a buyer has purchased a Newegg International item for international shipment, the order will process normally. A domestic address will be imported with the order information and marked as paid for fulfillment processing to continue. Fulfillment addresses will have a format with a special Reference Number to allow the Newegg International warehouse to reprocess the package for delivery to the final destination.
