How To

Enabling Quantity-Only Mode for Shopify

Quantity-Only Mode allows us to support many of Shopify's hundreds of third-party apps by allowing sellers to specify on their template that any given product grouping should only receive updates to quantity.

To enable Quantity-Only Mode:

  1. Navigate to Webstores > Shopify > Template.
  2. Locate the Quantity-Only mode field and map your desired input. See Customizing Templates  for additional information on how to map template fields.
  3. If set to True:
    1. Quantity will be sent to Shopify, but no other product data will be sent.

This field maps to the Shopify field named quantity_only_mode.

Restricted Values

The value is restricted to one of the following:

  • False
  • True

Variation Support

This field uses the same value for all related child/variation products. There are two ways to map data to this field.
1) The value can be defined on the parent product.
2) If the parent product does not have a value, all the child/variation products must have the same value.

Sync Process Changes

  • If items have successfully listed through the ChannelAdvisor integration to Shopify, then you can turn on quantity-only mode. If an item has not already been successfully listed through the integration, quantity-only mode is irrelevant; the integration will still try to create the product on the site.
  • As always, any items on the Shopify site that the ChannelAdvisor integration didn't put there is considered not to be under ChannelAdvisor control. ChannelAdvisor's integration to Shopify does not take over listings, regardless of quantity-only mode.
  • If a product is managed by ChannelAdvisor under quantity-only mode, ChannelAdvisor will not add or remove variants from that product. Meaning new variants that are created in ChannelAdvisor will not be sent while it is under quantity-only mode. Additionally, variants that ChannelAdvisor does not control, that were added directly into Shopify, will not be replaced in product syncs.
  • If the Reconciler setting is enabled on the Shopify Settings page, variants that ChannelAdvisor does not control, items added directly to Shopify, will be pulled down by our integration on the next product sync.
