How do I confirm my eBay store categories are valid in ChannelAdvisor?

The most common reason that this error, "The submitted value of "*" could not be converted into one of the valid eBay Store Categories imported for your seller account.", happens is due to an extra space being in the category name. Web browsers by default remove the extra space so it is sometimes difficult to tell where the extra space is.

On the eBay template, click 'text' next to Store Category and then right click and select 'inspect element'. Click on the expand arrow to see what spacing is actually setup on the eBay Store Category.

To resolve the error, update the store category on eBay and then delete the listing errors.

Is the "Get It Fast" eBay feature still available?

eBay removed the "Get It Fast" feature in early 2015. They are now advising clients to use the Fast 'N Free feature. However this option is only available within the US. eBay's Fast 'N Free program is based on the following conditions:

- The listing offers free shipping (Expedited or standard shipping)
- Both the buyer and the seller are in the US
- There is a high probability that the item will be delivered within 4 business days or less
- 1-day or same-day handling

eBay Error: Portions of this listing cannot be revised if the item has bid or active Best Offers or is ending in 12 hours.

This error can be returned if a revision attempt is made and your eBay seller account has active best offers that haven't been responded to. To resolve the issue, please respond to the best offers. Please note, the best offers submitted are not available in ChannelAdvisor. If you wish to review each offer, you will have to do so in the eBay interface. This error will also be reported if the listing was originally posted with the Best Offer option enabled, and since then, the Best Offer option has been disabled in the ChannelAdvisor Posting Template. You will need to re-enable this feature if this is the case. Please follow these steps to re-enable this feature:

1) Go to Marketplaces > eBay > Product Mapping > Posting Template and select the template the listing is assigned to. For eBay quickstart users, you will just select your feed template.

2) Select the "Selling Preferences" tab

3) Select the "Listing Accepts Best Offers" field and enter the value of "on"

This re-enables the Best Offer option for SKUs assigned to this template. Remember to delete the listing error after you have resolved the issue.

How can I update my schedule to not be charged the new eBay fee for auctions less than 5 days?

With eBay's 2015 Spring release, eBay will be charging a $1 fee for all auction listings that are 1- or 3-day duration (http://pages.ebay.com/sellerinformation/news/springupdate2015/fees-and-features.html)

We wanted to make you aware of this so that you can update your schedules to use longer duration auctions.

This can be done by following these steps:

1 - Go to Marketplaces > eBay > Product Mapping > Schedules
2 - Click on the 'columns' button
3 - Move duration to the 'visible columns'
4 - Click on the schedule name for any schedule that shows a duration of 1 days or 3 days and update the duration to 5 days, 7 days, 10 days or 30 days

After the duration has been updated, any current listings will not have the duration changed as the duration cannot be updated through a revision. Any new listings posted after May 1st will be charged the new fees from eBay.

"Shipping Service is Required" error when using Local Pickup

You may see eBay return some combination of the errors and warnings below when configuring the "Local Pickup" shipping carrier in combination with with "Will NOT ship" option in the Accepted Shipping Methods section.

The solution is to remove the "Local Pickup" shipping carrier option either from your shipping policy within eBay. If you are not yet using business policies at eBay, you would need to remove "Local Pickup" from your posting template's shipping carrier section. "Local Pickup" should only be used when also offering other shipping methods.

Related errors/warnings:

eBay responded with the message:
Short Message: A shipping service is not specified.
Long Message: At least one valid shipping service must be specified.

eBay responded with the message:
Short Message: ShippingDetails dropped
Long Message: All Shipping Details have been dropped because item will not be shipped.

eBay responded with the message:
Short Message: Item will not be shipped.
Long Message: The shipping info is not applicable if shipping location "None" is provided on item level. <ShippingServiceOptions> container is ignored.

How does eBay calculate Estimated Delivery Date?

This information is calculated behind-the-scenes by eBay and while they don't share the precise calculation, it considers the following:

- The postal code of the item's location (configured in ChannelAdvisor in your posting template)
- Your stated Handling Time for that listing (configured in ChannelAdvisor in your posting template)
- The buyer's address or IP location
- The historical shipment tracking data in your eBay account

So, for example, if you as a seller view the Estimated Delivery Date on one of your listings, you will likely see a very short time window because eBay would calculate a shorter distance for the item to travel (shipping from your postal code to the same postal code). However, if someone across the country were to look at the same item, their estimated delivery date would be different as eBay would take into account the source location, the stated handling time and the buyer's location - then use their historical tracking data to estimate when it would arrive.

Can I use JavaScript in my ad templates?

Some JavaScript is allowed, but this is determined by eBay. You can find their code policy here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-javascript.html.

You can test it by using the Sell Your Item form in eBay and pasting your code there. If an error occurs, they will not allow the code.

I need to send my SKU number to eBay, how can this be done?

This is automatically done based on your inventory SKU and can be seen on eBay in the "Custom Label" field.

The purpose for our use of the Custom Label field is so that we are properly able to maintain your listings and import your eBay orders. You should not overwrite the system generated Custom Label as this can lead to revision issues as well as an inability to import your orders.

What are the different eBay Powerseller levels?

There are five Powerseller levels based on annual sales/number of transactions:

- Bronze: $3,000 or 100 transactions
- Silver: $36,000 or 36,00 transactions
- Gold: $120,000 or 12,000 transactions
- Platinum: $300,000 or 30,000 transactions
- Titanium: $1,800,000 or 180,000 transactions

Will a second chance offer be left for bidders who bid under the reserve price?

Second chance offers will be left for any under bidders whose bid was above the threshold price you indicate in the Sales > Settings view. This can includes bids that were above the threshold but below the reserve price. If you do not want second chance offers left for these bidders, then you will want to set your second chance offer threshold price greater than or equal to your reserve price.

You can review and change your Second Chance Offer settings in ChannelAdvisor under Sales > Settings. Scroll to the "Second Chance Offer Settings" section and select the price that you want to use as the lower threshold from the drop-down menu.

What information will take precedence upon posting?

Generally speaking, the hierarchy is:

- Ad
- Posting Template
- Account-level settings

For Item Specifics, the system will first attempt to use enabled account-level settings like Automatic Matching (https://ssc.ChannelAdvisor.com/howto/using-automatic-matching-ebay-item-specifics) and attempt to pull your values from the SKU level. However, if you have any item specifics configured on your posting templates, Automatic Matching will be disabled. You cannot use Automatic Matching in combination with template tags on your category-specific posting templates. Finally, any item specific information configured at the Ad level will override any template tags configured on your posting template AND your Automatic Matching setting.

One account-level setting unaffected by this hierarchy is "Enable Automatic Item Specifics creation for variations that are defined in inventory but are not in the default item specifics list from eBay" (https://ssc.ChannelAdvisor.com/howto/using-automatic-item-specifics-creation-ebay-variation-listings). This setting can be used in conjunction with Automatic Matching, template tags configured on your posting templates and Ad-level values.

Additionally, eBay Category and Store Category information configured at the ad level will override the values configured on your posting templates.

How Does ChannelAdvisor handle eBay listings from another tool?

In short, ChannelAdvisor Complete cannot invoice orders that were listed outside of CA.

We will only invoice sales for items listed by our system. If the buyer buys an item listed by our system, as well as another of your items for the same eBay account that was not listed by our system, then the sale data will be imported for the item listed by us. You will likely get an alert in our system that we could not create the order as found on eBay because not all of the items are in our system.

Note that in some cases eBay splits up multiple purchases from one buyer into separate orders/invoices, mainly if the shipping methods are not the same between the 2+ sales. In such cases we would import the one sale listed by us, and there would be no alert in our system for the other sale of the item not listed by our system.

Where is the price pulled from for eBay Variation Listings?

For eBay Variation Listings the item price is pulled from the child SKUs rather than the parent SKU.

Child items may have different values for price. The price for each child item will be based on the Sale Price configured on your posting template. When showing the buyer the item page for the first time, eBay will show them the lowest price for any of the options that are currently available. When the buyer selects their exact child item in the available dropdown menu, the price for that child item will be shown, whether it is different or not.

Will all eBay orders appear in CA or just paid eBay orders?

All eBay orders, both paid and unpaid, will show in the Sales > Orders/Transactions > Orders page. Once a buyer wins an auction or commits to buy a fixed price item, an order will be created at eBay and imported into CA. Once the buyer goes through eBay's checkout and pays, payment and shipping information will be updated on the order.

How do I revise my Item title on eBay?

To revise your listing's title, all you need to do is update the title in ChannelAdvisor. For variation listings, you would need to update your Parent SKU's title. Once this is done, as long as you have the Revise Listings sync enabled under Marketplaces > eBay > eBay Settings > Listings, we will attempt to update your listing automatically.

However, there are restrictions around when eBay will allow you to change your listing's title. You can revise a title on eBay live listing only if:

- no sales or bids have been made
- the item has more than 12 hours left before closing

If your listing does not meet those requirements, eBay will not allow the title to be revised per their restrictions here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/revising_restrictions.html. The only way to change the item title in this case is to withdraw the live listing and list the item again.

Why is the API creating duplicate eBay ads?

The API call does not have the functionality to detect and prevent the creation of duplicate ads for eBay. You are fully responsible for the creation of ads.

How will data changes from eBay Automatic Revisions be shown on my listings?

The listing on eBay will be noted that it has been changed. You can see on the eBay listing page that there is a link for View All Revisions at the top of the description that will tell you which elements on a listing have been modified. The values are not shown, but the specific fields that have been modified are displayed.

Can I use more than one Product Identifier to match my items to the eBay catalog?

You can configure mappings for any number of the Product Identifier fields in your posting template. As long as more than one of these mappings have values for a product, those values will all be submitted as Product Identifiers.

Does blocking an item withdraw the associated eBay listing?

This depends on whether you are using eBay QuickStart or eBay Custom.

*****For eBay QuickStart users*****

Blocking a SKU will withdraw a listing from eBay. Additionally, you may remove listings via label removal. Similar to other Marketplaces, labels tie eBay QuickStart SKUs to eBay. By removing the label, you break the tie to eBay, thus removing the listing.

*****For eBay Custom users*****

Blocking a SKU will only prevent your eBay ads from posting again; it will NOT withdraw your open listings. To end your listings, you will also need to withdraw the listings. This can be done from one of the following views using the "Withdraw Listings" button:

- Marketplaces > eBay > Open Listings
- Marketplaces > eBay > Ads
- Inventory > Products > All Products

Note that if using "Withdraw Listings" from the Inventory > Products > All Products view, this will also automatically block your SKU as well.

What can cause this error message "Some or all of the posting templates you selected were not deleted, because an error occurred"?

The first thing to check is that are no Ads are assigned to the posting template. If there are ads assigned they'll need to be removed before you can successfully delete the posting template. The second thing to check is if the posting template is assigned to an active feed. To remove the Posting template from an active feed go to Marketplaces > eBay > Settings > eBay settings and under the Label Based Ad Management section. Click on configure beside the posting template name you want to delete. Set the following fields to "Please Select"
1) - Inventory Label:
2) - Posting Template
3) - Description Template:
4) - Standard Schedule:
Also enable the following option "Keep the open listings at eBay and leave the ads alone" Save and Exit.

Once that is complete you should be able to delete the posting template successfully.

Where can I map a second eBay Category for eBay QuickStart?

You may now map a second eBay Category within your QuickStart feed template. This is not a required field;however, if you wish to send a second eBay Category within eBay QuickStart this can be done by mapping the field "Second eBay Category" within the feed template.

Note - Do not map the field eBay Category within the feed template. ChannelAdvisor will pull the first category value from the "eBay_Category_ID" field at the SKU level.

How do I provide an Aust-L or Aust-R number when listing therapeutic goods on eBay Australia?

If listing a therapeutic good on eBay AU, please make sure to comply with eBay's Therapeutic Goods policy, which is described in more detail here:

If a Aust-L or Aust-R number is not provided on the listing, the listing will be removed by eBay.

It looks like most sellers provide this number in the eBay listing title, but the Aust-L or Aust-R number can also be provided in the listing description or sent as a custom item specific.

How do I get the zoom feature to work for my eBay images?

The zoom feature on the eBay images shown at the top of the listing is part of picture pack which is free and included when posting to eBay.

eBay recommends at least 1600 pixels on the longest side in order for the zoom to function properly. If the zoom feature is not working in a particular listing, check the size of the images and make sure they meet the size requirements.
