Why do MPN, Brand and UPC (Product Identifier section) disappear from an eBay listing?.
The information configured in the Product Identifier section of your posting template is provided to eBay, but they don't always show it to buyers. They use it for their own cataloging and other elements like Google Shopping behind the scenes, but it's not exposed in the UI like a normal item specific field. If the values happen to match item specific fields and are set up for automatic matching then we'll provide those as item specifics as well and eBay will show them as an item specific, but they don't use the catalog values to generate anything for a user display.return to menu
Since eBay controls how all of that is displayed, it is best for a user to include that information in their ad template so they know it's going to be shown in their description.
What does 'The price for this item cannot be updated since it is a part of a sale' mean?
eBay has now added some new elements to the sale management tools that allow a price increase to be blocked while the item is on a sale. return to menu
To prevent the sale from ending on eBay, ChannelAdvisor has put a fallback measure in place in which the price will be dropped from the revision so that the rest of the listing can revise.
If this happens, you will see this error in the revision log:
Error Code: 21919248
Short Message: The price for this item cannot be updated since it is a part of a sale.
Long Message: The price for this item cannot be updated since it is a part of a sale. If you wish to update the price of this item, please remove it from sale, or use a sale setting that will always allow price updates.
Would I be able to set up Sales Maximizer for eBay in ChannelAdvisor?
You can use the Sales Maximizer in conjunction with items posted from ChannelAdvisor. However, there is currently no direct integration through ChannelAdvisor for this feature. No changes are needed to the way you post items from ChannelAdvisor. All Sales Maximizer related information such as bundle relationships and order level discount information must be configured directly at eBay. All orders will be imported as usual, but with the discounted rates.return to menu
What does the following error message within DE Locale posting account mean "Leer gelassene Artikelbezeichnung"?
eBay responded with the message: return to menu
Short Message: Leer gelassene Artikelbezeichnung.
Long Message: Sie mssen eine Artikelbezeichnung fr Ihren Artikel eingeben.
If you receive the above error message sometime google translate is iffy in relation to translating these eBay errors. Rather than translating, it's often better to add the Result Code column to the Listing Errors view on ChannelAdvisor (this is within the hidden columns view "Result Code") and then search that on eBay's dev site:
As you'll see there, result code 69 equates to:
Short error: Empty Title.
Long error: You must enter a title for your item.
To resolve this error you'll need to check that the Parent SKU and all the Child SKUs are sending a title. If you don't have a title specified you'll receive the above posting error.
Why can't I revise my eBay listing duration?
eBay does not allow a change to the duration of a listing after that listing has been live for two hours. Additionally, GTC listings are never permitted to have a change to duration. You can find these and other revision restrictions here: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/revising_restrictions.html.return to menu
What locales support eBay Promoted Listings?
Promoted Listings are only available for US, UK, Germany, and Australia.return to menu
eBay Posting Error: Category entered is not catalog enabled
This indicates that your ad has picked up a catalog item from the eBay catalog and is submitting that to eBay with your listing. However, the category that the ad is pointing to does not support catalog items. It may be that the category you're using no longer allows catalog items at eBay or the category has been changed to a new category that doesn't support catalog items. return to menu
The easiest solution here is to remove any catalog mapping you have and either manually search for a new one or let a new catalog item be automatically mapped based on your configured options.
How can I view a list of eBay ads that have inventory available but are not live on eBay?
Go to the Marketplaces > eBay > Product Mapping > Ads view. On the right click on "Create" beside "Filter By". Next give your filter a name create your filter as follows: return to menu
Inventory Quantity >= 1
(Inventory Qty Open = 0
Posting Template Name like ebay)
Finally click "Save and Exit".
How do I post my eBay ads to multiple sites at once?
You can find this setting in the "Additional Features"/"Selling Preferences" section depending on the Posting template you are using. The options vary depending on the location configured for your posting account. return to menu
For example, the posting templates in a US posting account would show an option to "Make my item visible on eBay UK". A UK account would give you the option to "Make my item visible on eBay US and eBay CA". Once that option is enabled with the correct value, all future listings posted by that template will appear on both sites.
Keep in mind that there is a small fee for this feature, which is outlined next to the option on the posting template.
How do we notify our eBay customers of the carrier we used to ship their item?
Even if your eBay listings include generic shipping options like "Standard Shipping", when you ship the item you can assign a specific carrier (UPS, USPS, FedEx, or custom carrier options). The carrier and class that you use when updating the order as shipped in ChannelAdvisor will be submitted to eBay with the shipping notification, updating the buyer's order.return to menu
Will my sales history be carried over to my next eBay listing?
For Fixed Price listings, sales history will be carried over from one listing to the next based on the following:return to menu
- If the new item is a multi quantity listing
- If the previous item was a multi quantity listing
- If the previous item had one or more sales (Last 14 days for a scheduled ad and last 60 days for a 'Post Now')
- If the previous item closed in last 7 days
- If the new item and previous item are using the same ad ID
- If the new ad has the same condition and category as the previous ad
You can find more about sales history and eBay's Best Match algorithm here:
How do you remove eBay credentials from a posting account?
- Go to Marketplaces>eBay>Settings>eBay Settings.return to menu
- Click 'Modify' under the 'Actions' column.
- Un-check all the marketplaces (eBay Auction US, eBay Fixed Price US, etc...) shown.
- Click 'Save'.
Note that this will delete any posting templates and ads in CA associated with that particular eBay user ID.
Is there a way to un-map eBay catalog information in bulk?
There is currently no way to do this in bulk. return to menu
You can, however, change the catalog mapping to something different. If you would like to change the catalog mapping, click on the link for the Ad ID to edit it , then click the "Catalog Item Information" tab within each ad. Information on this can be found on our Strategy and Support Center here:
It's important to note that catalog mapping is made at the SKU level, so there are occasions (moving from the Motors catalog to manual fitment) where unmapping at the ad level will not work. In that case, opening a Support ticket is necessary.
How will data changes from eBay Automatic Revisions be shown on my listings?
The listing on eBay will be noted that it has been changed. You can see on the eBay listing page that there is a link for View All Revisions at the top of the description that will tell you which elements on a listing have been modified. The values are not shown, but the specific fields that have been modified are displayed. return to menu
More details on the eBay Revision link can be found here:
More information on the eBay Automatic Revision feature can be found here:
What does the eBay error "Invalid rate table details type; The shipping rate table is not applicable for this site." mean?
Generally this error is returned because the previous listing for this item had different shipping options than the posting template currently uses.return to menu
If you are no longer wanting to use a shipping rate table for listings assigned to this posting template, clear out the mappings for this field. You can do this by following these steps:
1) If this is an eBay Quickstart account, go to Marketplaces > eBay > Product Mapping >Template and select "edit" under the template column
2) If this an eBay custom account, go to Marketplaces > eBay > Product Mapping > Posting Templates and select "site details" for the desired posting template
Once here, select the business policies tab and scroll down to the "Shipping" section. Find the "Use Domestic Shipping Surcharge Table configured at eBay" field and make sure that there are no configured mappings.
Once the above is done, delete the listing error and the listing will post with the next iteration of the schedule.
Can I upload a bulk ad file via FTP?
Yes, bulk ad uploads can be uploaded via FTP. Please place the file in the 'Ads' folder in the FTP directory. return to menu
More can be found on this file type here: http://ssc.ChannelAdvisor.com/howto/bulk-ad-upload-field-reference#
Can you use Click & Collect with a listing that has a Best Offer Option?
Click & Collect will not be added to listings that have a Best Offer option or are auction format. Best offer is set on the posting template level. See attached link for some additional information - http://sellercentre.ebay.co.uk/click-and-collectreturn to menu
How to identify orders consolidated by the Order Consolidation Setting for eBay
Orders that have been affected by the Order Consolidation Setting automatically have an "OrderConsolidated" tag applied to them. The following steps can be used in our new Orders page to identify all orders that have this tag.return to menu
1. Go to Sales>Orders/Transactions>Orders
2. Make sure you're on the new interface for this page. You can confirm this by looking for a link at the top-right saying "View old version of this page". If you're using the old interface, the link on the right side will say "Switch to new page".
3. Click the "Columns" button, then add the "Private Notes" field to the selected columns.
4. Add "Order Tag" as a search field, and filter for tags that contain the text "OrderConsolidated".
5. This will return a list of consolidated orders. The Private Notes column shows the date and a list of invoices that were consolidated into each order.
eBay Error: Portions of this listing cannot be revised if the item has bid or active Best Offers or is ending in 12 hours.
This error can be returned if a revision attempt is made and your eBay seller account has active best offers that haven't been responded to. To resolve the issue, please respond to the best offers. Please note, the best offers submitted are not available in ChannelAdvisor. If you wish to review each offer, you will have to do so in the eBay interface. You can find out more about eBay best offers here: https://ssc.ChannelAdvisor.com/howto/best-offer-automationreturn to menu
This error will also be reported if the listing was originally posted with the Best Offer option enabled, and since then, the Best Offer option has been disabled in the ChannelAdvisor Posting Template. You will need to re-enable this feature if this is the case. Please follow these steps to re-enable this feature:
1) Go to Marketplaces > eBay > Product Mapping > Posting Template and select the template the listing is assigned to. For eBay QuickStart users, you will just select your feed template.
2) Select the "Selling Preferences" tab
3) Select the "Listing Accepts Best Offers" field and enter the value of "on"
This re-enables the Best Offer option for SKUs assigned to this template. Remember to delete the listing error after you have resolved the issue.
How do I get the zoom feature to work for my eBay images?
The zoom feature on the eBay images shown at the top of the listing is part of picture pack which is free and included when posting to eBay.return to menu
eBay recommends at least 1600 pixels on the longest side in order for the zoom to function properly. If the zoom feature is not working in a particular listing, check the size of the images and make sure they meet the size requirements.
Within eBay category selection tool, what does the numbers in the parentheses of a category option mean?
When using the eBay category selection tool on ad or posting template, what is the meaning of the numbers in the parentheses of a category option?return to menu
For example, you select the following eBay category string:
Clothing, Shoes & Accessories >> Men's Shows >> Boots (1)
What is the meaning of the (1)?
This means that particular eBay category option supports variation listings.
At the bottom of the eBay category selection tool, you will see the "Individual Category Information" section that states the meaning of each number:
1. Supports Variation Listings
2. Supports Fitment Listings if using manual fitment, the maximum number of fitments is in
3. Is a Value Category can only be listed in one category and must use catalog if available
4. Supports catalog listings
5. Requires catalog listings
I am getting a Half.com error when listing to eBay.
eBay responded with the message: return to menu
Short Message: Item cannot be accessed.
Long Message: This item cannot be accessed because the listing has been deleted, is a Half.com listing, or you are not the seller.
This error indicates that eBay has removed the original listing and they are not allowing us to use it as the source for a relist to carry over your sales history. You will have to submit your new listing as a new item rather than using the Relist feature.
In order to get it live without trying to relist against the old value that is not allowed, you can choose the "Do not use relist" option on the Post Now operation so that your new corrected listing can go live.
Can I exclude certain countries from eBay?
Yes, you can exclude countries from all your eBay listings across your entire account or you can exclude countries from just specific listings. return to menu
In order to exclude countries, this setting must be enabled within your eBay account: "Block buyers in locations to which I don't ship Buyer Requirement". To enable the option, log in to your eBay account and go to My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Selling Preferences > Buyer Requirements. You'll also want to make sure that you select this: "Apply above settings to active and future listings."
If you plan on blocking the same countries for all of your products, use the exclusion list in eBay. Log in to your eBay account and navigate to your My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Selling Preferences > Shipping Preferences. Select the Exclude shipping locations from your listings option to configure your exclusion list. This will automatically be applied to all future listings, regardless of whether you exclude countries on your posting template.
If you want to exclude different countries from different listings, please set up the 'Excluded Region List' directly on your posting template in ChannelAdvisor and save your posting template. All the listings assigned to that posting template will then exclude the countries from that list.
For a comprehensive overview, please see this SSC article: https://ssc.ChannelAdvisor.com/howto/using-ebay-excluded-countries-list
Can I send a number as the shipping policy name on eBay?
If a shipping policies name is only a number (ie. 50) then the shipping policy ID sent to eBay will be 50 instead of the actual policy ID. Since this isn't the correct policy, eBay will return an error message:return to menu
eBay responded with the message:
Short Message: A postage service is not specified.
Long Message: At least one valid postage service must be specified.
To resolve this, the policy will need to be renamed at eBay to have a non-numeric value (ie. "50+" or "50 shipping policy"). Then, under Marketplaces > eBay > eBay Settings > Business Policies, select 'import policies'. Then, under Marketplaces > eBay > Posting Templates, update the template to use the new name, and then it'll work as expected.
Why are my eBay Gallery Images not showing on eBay.DE?
You need to ensure you have the option Use Gallery selected in the posting template. You can access this by navigating to:return to menu
Marketplaces > eBay > Product Mapping > Posting Templates
Click "Site Details" next to your template. Scroll to the section called Additional Features and check the box beside Use Gallery. Save and exit.
